why did the Roman empire fall after years of great military and cultural victories?

i think the Barbarians from the east mixed with currupt politics lead to the destruction of their economy and their military.
please post your opinion!!!!

The Roman Empire fell partly because of corruptness in the Catholic Church. Another reason was because they stopped strengthening their army thus, was weakened after many separate attacks.

All empires have to fall at some point. I think it mostly had to do with the fact that they had such bad rulers near the end.

Communist... no
To answer your question and to voice the truth the roman empire fell to countless, non stopping invasions to its borders. And when all of its border fell to enemy control the roman citizens rebelled against their government... and from that point the roman empire went down hill
It finally died because of invasion and failing government.

It might have something to do with all the in-breeding that was going on. Leaders got a little out of whack when people tried to keep royal blood in the family.

I said PARTLY! I didn't say that was the full reason why the empire fell. You are right too!

Well, As I remember in History class.

The Roman Empire fell somewhere in the 500's. They fell because of many country's and barbarians attacking the country. After about 100 years, it collapsed. It's tax prices rose and not much food because of the farmers going to war. That's really all I remember and A person named Conastine, made a new capital near Asia minor.

There was a lot of different things, the ones here, and I think taht it was just too big for the army to defend so barbarian attacks would win easier against spread out troops.

It was a big combination of things. One part was the Mongols carried a plaugue with them, the rulers became too decadent, there was invasion after invasion by barbarians, and there was a lot of poor leadership and in-fighting. Mostly though, they expanded too much. It's like how there could never be 60 foot animals, they would need more resources than they could provide for them selves, and eventually collapsed under it's own weight.

Romans lost their identity. They absorbed so many cultures into their own that they forgot what it meant to be "Roman."

This was further complicated by too many Roman nobles drinking from lead cups, and a whole lot of intermarriage at the top.

The Roman Empire caused itself to fall. Although ultimately it was the barabarians that defeated them, the Romans helped the barabarians. There is many reasons that the Roman Empire fell, some false, some perhaps true. The Romans were corrupted, and they had lost their goal as a country. They followed dictators instead of a democracy, and they failed to achieve their goals. They were a strong empire turned weak with their poor leadership, corruption, and ultimately, it led their downfall.

The Roman Empire was way too vast to control, so they were weak to attack by many nomadic clans and barbarians such as the Visigoths.
