Parkour is the art of moving in the most fluid manners while getting from point A to point B. It is a really kewl life style and am just trying to promote it a little bit to give those that do not like organized sports or even if they do just another fun thing to get into. It is another thing to do instead of just staying inside playing videogames all day (not that there is anything wrong with that) lol.
I will post some links to some sweet videos in a bit and am open to any questions or concerns about my topic including to try and help you guys with certain moves the best I can.
The first link is an interview of David Belle. He is one of the founders of parkour. That vid should give you guys a better understanding of what it is.

The second link is one of my favorite parkour teams "evolution" which includes David Belle.
Art? Hardly... it's a bunch of people scrambling around, climbing on things and lifting themselves up. That isn't art. A 5 year old could do that. If you go to a gym, you can do that mumbo jumbo there.
Wow pretty harsh guys. I was just trying to introduce something that I myself think is fun and interesting. To you guys that say it isn't art I say go out and try it once. It is a whole life style and an excellent way to keep your body healthy.
It isn't about competition either. It is about furthering yourself and encouraging others. It gives people that don't have much to do something to do other than turn to drinking/drugs.
If you do not like it that is fine. But you don't have to disrespect it. Either way thanks for taking time to look at my post and thank you colby_227 for supporting it.
Yes, you can get really hurt. But you can get really hurt in any sport. People have died from things like baseball and football too. Parkour isn't the only deadly sport out there. It really is a lot of fun. You just have to know your boundaries. It's when you try to overstep these, that you get hurt. The wikipedia article on parkour is helpful as well. And it really is an artform. Every single person does it differently. Like, Blitzkrieg77 said, it's getting from point A to point B in the most efficient route possible. Everyone has different ways of doing this. Plus, just how difficult it is. There is no way a five year old could do real parkour. Maybe the fake things people post on youtube, but not actual parkour. These things are what make it an art.
And you cant do real damage to your self(you can if you are retarded) in Basketball,Soccer and Tennis. Those things are SPORTS.Parkour is another name for JACKASS
sounds really lame. its for nerds who cant play sports and who just sit inside all day playing video games and cant get a gf and uhh...ya...d=0 in yo face!!!!!!!
I consider myself someone who does parkour and I am in high school. I have a girlfriend. I played varsity baseball. Yes, a five year old may be able to go from point A to point B, but not in the same fashion as a traceur. This is a sport, it requires much more balance, precision, and proprioception than any other physical activity I have experienced. @501st, do you know most of the population of traceurs, because that would be a really difficult thing to do. And how could you judge one's knowledge of sports without knowing them. You might want to reword your argument and focus on actual points and counterpoints rather than personal attacks.
hahaahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so you are traceur.my friend is still free runner.buaahahhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.every one can be an idiot and jump from A to point B.But MOST of the people thinks its CRAZY and IDIOTIC.Who is David Belle.Oh i know,A LEADING IDIOT.Football is and art.Basketball is and art.Tennis is an art.My friend, parkour inst. Its joust another word for idiot that can jump.
