I am tired of talking about politics, because both side flame each other, and i usually cant put my point across without somebody being an idiot. Anybody Just Tired? Cause' I'll tell ya, I am.
Hmm, to have an equal discussion: First of all. All oppions are worth the same. Do not be angry at someone for having another oppinion than you, since the difference in oppinion is what makes a discussion. Listen to the oppinion, and consider it a possible answer to the question. The goal is not to change your own oppinion, but to widen your horisont, and maybe give you a better picture of the situation.
If a mud throwing starts, take a deep breath, and sum up all the possible oppinions, without taking a stand. Be absolutely neutral. Ask the paticipants to only write, if they have something else to say, other than what have already been summed up. Try to explain the topic from all sites, again, without taking a stand. Listen to all paticipants, so that noone is left outside the discussion, they might have a point. You do not need to quote them, but try to built on their oppinion.
Remember, all are equal, all oppinions are equally right, as long as they have force behind them. This method is used in science, to map the possible outcomes of a theory.
Everything is mostly a debate of war In Politics, like Picking presidents, saying yes to prop 8 or saying no to it. Choosing religion and with war. Everything is a debate.
Yes, but somehow it stops being a debate at some point, and starts being nothing more than a mud throw, just like it happened in the Homosexuality thread.
If we all take neutral stands, nothing will accomplished. That, in my opinion, means you truly don't care! If you don't stand up for what you know to be right, no one else will. I'm not trying to cut you down, I'm just saying that neutrality almost makes you somewhat of a coward...
What's really been bothering me lately, are the Proposal 2 ads. These are about taking female egg cells that would normally be discarded and using them for stem cell research. The debate is over whether or not this is morally right. Voting No on Proposal 2 would not allow this use of egg cells. Quite honestly, I feel everyone is entitled to their own opinions, this is not where my problem lies. What I have a problem with is the way the ads are set up. Ads supporting Proposal 2 give a little bit of background information on what all it entails. While the ads against Proposal 2 hardly mention what the purpose of the proposal is because they focus primarily on how it would raise taxes slightly just to get the attention of the general public. This type of advertisement really grinds my gears. This is exactly why one should not get there information primarily from the television when voting on anything.
Only if the points are to be summed up, you have to be neutral. Under the real discussion you just have listen to the other points, without being all to clingy about your own oppinion.
Being American, i just want Obama in the office so Europe stops hating our guts. Apparently on a website letting other countries vote, Obama won everywhere but on one small Island country because he said it didn't belong to them.
Just ignore the people who can't make a valid point or completely bash their fallacies with your superior arguing skills, if you really have them. What makes me tired, though, is people who know how to argue and think that the purpose of a debate is to convince the adversary of your opinion. As Cenere said... It's just to make people think about the opposing viewpoint and realize that it exists and makes sense.
