In short, no i do not think that wwe should. I think that tactical systems and objectives need to be changed from the macro to the micro.

Hell no. Afghanistan is the area that needs more troops. Pull out of Iraq, and then send more troops there. There was this one guy who attacked the United States way back when...What was his name? OH YEAH! Osama bin Ladin. That dude. I think he might still need to be taken care of.

Osama Bin Laden is not the main problem. It is winning the hearts and minds of the Afghani people. Without it we cannot win this conflict. The focus should shift from occupation to training. We need to give the Afghani military and police to carry on this fight without us, otherwise we will never leave and it will end up being another Vietnam.

Not quite yet. The casualties are way less than vietnam, with the 121 british servicemen having lost their lives since the beginning of operation Telic in 2001, being way lower than vietnams casualty figures.

No, we can't pull them out yet. Our job there isn't done, and it won't be done for a while unless we start to teach the Afghan military how to fight so they can do it without us, like woody said.

I would say that our ultimate objective in Afghanistan will never be achieved unless we increase the amount of govt spending on the MOD and increase the amount of servicemen drastically. We cannot just pull out because we owe it to their people, but we have to realistically look at the resources we have at our disposal and create new objectives.

Are you basing the assumption that they do not need help on any facts, stats or evidence or is that a complete value judgement? The conflict between the Taliban and the government was more or less caused by the us and uk going in, and so to leave with no valid reason is extremely difficult.

I completely agree. I know many people would like to pull out but we owe it to them to finish the job, or at least help them finish the job.

Hahaha. Gotta agree with woody.
