Maybe it's just me, but for some reason, Super Smash Bros. Brawl doesn't feel right. The action was slowed down, a few characters got nerfed (poor Samus), and I feel like it really lost its competitive edge. Don't get me wrong, the adventure mode was outstanding, but I'm talking about the actual fighting. It seems like a "dumbed down" version of SSBM. Thoughts?
I enjoyed it, and story mode had a great plot, but I see what you're saying. You half know whether you're going to win the match before it starts. Still, I love the stadium-making feature, and online play is slightly more competitive.
I'm getting it for my birthday and finding it extremely hard to keep positive with what you guys are saying. I'll review it in a couple of days...
Don't worry it just fell short of these whiners expectations. It's still fantastic. I was a bit disappointed it was nice and all. And having new characters was fun but they took out old ones which I found to be awful. Both me, and my friend, had our favorite characters cut. I would have preferred less new characters but all the old ones. How many characters did they cut anyway? I can only think of three. Otherwise the game was great except for a few things that just kinda bugged me but weren't all that important (the beam sword is too big and I liked it pink.).
You say that you like it but you're not giving any reasons for it to be superior to SSBM. SSBB had more characters, items, and stages (I think?). The adventure mode was fantastic and a great addition. However, I'm looking strictly at the battle system right now, which is flawed. It gives advantages to less skilled players because of the slower game speed, which crushes the reason SSBM was so great. I love SSBM because it mattered how good you were WAY more than it mattered how good your character is. This is not so in SSBB.
