I just don't think it is that viable, at least not whole animal cloning. Your DNA degrades over time, meaning any clone directly from your DNA would most likely be much more suceptible to any disease, and certainly cancer. Not to mention since they would be babies it is still way cheaper to make new offspring the ol' fashioned way! I do, however, think it is a great idea for growing organs. Better a substandard organ than a slow painful death.
lol if you think about how many times your cells duplicate your DNA you would be degrading, in fact everything in the universe is degrading, so does it really matter, and it degrades so little that it doesn't matter lol. Anyways cancer it have many causes but I blame radiation did you know that theres been around 1,995 detonated nuclear bombs...I got the info from Microsoft encarta, anyways yea you may think clonings bad but I would rather have a clone, organs and such then the idea of genetic modification...anyways they found a way around embriotic stem cells, they figured that it takes for specific genes to create a stem cell from any cell....i got that info from Wired Magazine
i just want to point some thing out. on dr who, one of the story lines was a hospital from the future, however the hospital had a large room full of cloned people which they infected with every disease, in the universe. this was to see what cures worked on humans. if a clone started to gain intelligence the incinerated it, so the evidence would not get out. i just wanted to point out a moral problem that could occur with cloning "host" bodies.
Well, there are certainly a mishmash of moral problems that COULD occur, but as Eshploded said, there are far, far too many moral benefits that outweigh those cons.
With proper oversight, it could change medicine from here on out,

Glad to see I make you laugh. My point is that there is a cumulative effect. If you take DNA from a 22 year old, and make a clone from that DNA, you have a newborn with 22 year old DNA. That is bad.

And the majority of radioactive isotopes given off by those explosions have far exceeded their halflives, most often leaving them stable, or only capable of giving off alpha radiation. The nuclear bombs have little to do with it, but radiation from natural sources would contribute. Hell, we all drink naturally occuring tritium every time we have a glass of... well... any substance containing water.
Dude i think it would be epic to have 5 others of yourself. I'd make it a fight to the death XD. everyone would be like WTF, there all the same. And i'd be like, i know... its awesome. XD

Wow, quite the dicey topic. From a completely medical standpoint, human cloning would be THE breakthrough of medicine. But if we ever reach the point of full human cloning, that would be the demise of man. For that, I am certain. Cloning cells, tissues, even organs for medical measures, I completely agree with. But once you end up forming a human, a life, and you use it for medical practices in a sacrificial sense, that's just wrong. Just think about if they confused you and your sacrificial clone? Whoops, you just died for the person that wasn't you.
Sure, it gets a bit philosophical and overly theoretical, but full human cloning is not going to be a good thing.
On the other hand, Biomorphic robots would be AWESOME. Human structure + robotic additions + computerized mind. As long as you can take out the "soul" of the body and transform it into a machine, man that would be awesome.
