My grandfather and I were discussing this today over the phone. We were throwing ideas back and forth to improve America's oil crisis. So I would like to know Armor Gamer's opinions.

Personally I think we should drill off the coast and in Alaska but keep the most extreme and tight regulations. Once we make the profits from there, then go and use the money to help research alternative fuel. I know this idea would take some time but it is a suggestion.

I would agree with that at this point in time our economy and our crisis is much more important then part of our environment we need to have regulations but not drilling would be extremely foolish

Yes, and I'm all for the environment but we need to prioritize everything. Also we do need super strict drilling procedures.

i agree but if we do drill then the companies can put some of the money towards making greener ways to get the oil

i believe we should drill, because there is oil there, and we need it. as long as nothing goes wrong, like a oil leak into the sea, there would be no problem. maybe we should close off a section of ocean so that we can drill there, but shut out the risk of harming sealife

Ah I have never thought or that idea. That certainly would be an interesting concept to bring up to oil companies. I wonder if there would be a way to do that. I'm sure there is but I have not heard of something like that to block off life and to stop things from coming in and out of it.

buld a circular dam. then pump the water out, and let the animals go on the other side. they will be able to adapt, they would just be moving

It wouldnt work. You need to get tankers in and out of the area once you open the dam its gonna break.

then build the dam on a beach, then build a transport road right to the site. build the dam in a big U shape against a beach. because its shallower near the beache, there probably wouldnt be much sealife there. we might only hit the edge of a well, but we can always expand it. plus the U would relieve a lot of pressure.

That is a good idea but you know our government. If it cost so much the less they are gonna want to do it.

Offshore drilling won't help for another 20-30 years, and even then, the amount would be so insignificant that it wouldn't matter.

Offshore oil platforms are thousands of feet into the ocean...It doesn't exactly work like that.

it wouldnt be offshore, the water would be pumped out and the land drills would be used. then the pumps would be brought in by the road.
