I was at the lunch table today and a bunch of guys got on the subject of women in the military. We had a big discussion over it and winded up arguing in the end lol. What do you all think?
Here is my opinion. Anyone who is willing to give there life for this country should be respected no matter if they are male, female, white, black, purple, etc. Also women have been a big part in our armed forces. They are also statistically better marksmen. The point I make is that women are a good improvement to the military and some of our best soldiers are indeed women.
The whole thing about them being better snipers is false, they have the same ability as men. The Soviet Union used women as snipers as the men were always on the frontline. Reporters and the snipers themselves had to fake the number of kills they had. Some women supposedly had 400+ kills. It was simply a lie to promote the war effort and women's involvement.
I shall refrain from further off-topic discussion. How do you feel about women and the draft? Last time I checked, (years ago) women were exempt from the draft.
thelistman, what about Sniper Wolf? Oops, of topic!
I don't believe they should. The duty of the draft goes hand-in-hand with the right to vote, so I don't think you should get one without the other. I also don't like discrimination in any form.
On that note, if the decision were up to me, it would be a difficult one, because the less people signed up for the draft the better.
In the United States, at the age of 18, males are required to register, but there's no draft anymore. I suppose this is just in case they ever have to reinstitute it.
Actually that is a choice for criminals. Depending on their sentence they can join the military for a certain number of years (depending on the sentence) and when they return they will be free.
