mine is a C low morals coupled with a bad economy and low world standings but we still have a great military and pride and patriotism for our country so way right in the middle
Yeah. Government provides a society which they directly and indirectly control the people. They are a major preventative to murder.
Directly the government does not instill morals and values (patriotism isn't exactly a moral), but they take part in the shaping of our society and environment in general, thereby affecting our morals. e.g Without the government, the church would be in a terrible condition (physical attacks, for example), thus ruining one of the nations most moral symbols, creating negative effects on the people.
Government is nessicary for the foundation of any large society. Without government we would have no method of exacting neutral justice without retribution or for organizing large-scale defence. Read you Locke people...
Besides, any country without effective government is easily crushed or manipulated by one that does.
As far as America's report card, I'll say we get an A-. Bottom line, we have the ability to freely elect whomever we want without coercion. That puts us above 50% of the world. Next, we have the resouces to economically, politically, and militarily manipulate the entire world to a greater extent than anyone else. That puts us over the top.
I'd say China is the runner-up, and they'll stay there until they get a lot of Democracy in their Despotism.

Well the Us hold lots of power and uses it for its own benefit. The government is in the hands of large corporations which only exist to serve themselves. In search of their profits, they exploit foreign countries, using the government as help. After critically damaging the resources available at home (Only 4% of forests remain in the US :-$), they have moved to the third world countries for rap ing more natural resources for useless junk.
After 911, G bush could have prayed and grieved for the loss, but no, instead he practically told us "Go Shop". The government serves the interest of big corporations.
On political issues, the US has puppet states that act on the will of it. It uses military operations when needed and installs dictators that support it.

C+ for right now because we are disrupting peace in our effort to make peace by invading every country that takes military action for some cause. Also, America has wronfuly repressed communists and socialists out of its own fear!
