First, a bit of back story before I post the rules of joining and playing, just to give you an idea of the story that will be.

A tall, dark tower loomed over the barren planes surrounding it. At the top stood a tall man dressed in a dark cloak, blowing in the breeze behind him. He silently cursed to himself, because although the surrounding plain was without any life at all, he knew that beyond the tall mountains surrounding the castle, the plains were alive with grass and wildlife.
"No matter." he thought to himself. "It will all be dead soon. All in good time." He stepped off the edge and returned to the center of the roof, where a small pedestal held a small half circle. He pressed a hidden button, and the half-circle slid open, revealing what he intended to hide until the time was right. Five small polyhedral shapes rested in their own place, none of them touching the others. The man himself had another one in his pocket, he would never let it go. The power felt too nice to him. The man laughed to himself, he knew that soon he would rule all of Helmgard with the power of the shapes.
Suddenly, behind him, a hidden door leading back into the tower burst open. A knight, dressed in chain mail armor emerged. "Your through Granwalt! Your evil terror ends now!" he spoke in a raised voice, nearly screaming.
"How exactly do you plan on stopping me, Sothe? I hold all the chips, and you hold none!"
"Preposterous! Just because you have the dice of power does not mean you cannot be beaten!"
"Even without the dice I could defeat you, Sothe, and I intend to prove it!" With that the man in the cloak, apparently named Granwalt, pulled a book out from behind him. The brave knight Sothe charged forward, his two-handed sword raised high above his head. Bravery in his mind, he let out a shrill cry.
Granwalt quickly opened his book, moved his fingers in a strange pattern, and then cried out; "Raldi!" A beam of pure energy emerged from his free hand, and struck the knight square in the chest. The knight fell to the ground, sword still in his hand.
Granwalt tucked the book away back into his cloak, and walked toward the dark knight."Ha! Wheres your bravery now, Sothe?"
Sothe clutched the sword in his hand, moved it back, and then threw it forward, aimed straight at Granwalt. "Right here!' he cried. The dark wizard simply moved to the side. "Ha! You missed. Your still a worthless knight, no matter how brave you may be."
"I wasn't... aiming at you... Granwalt!" he said, dying. The sword lurched past the wizard, and straight into the pedestal. "No!" cried the wizard. The polyhedral shapes sprang up from the pedestal, and each flew off in five separate directions. "You see, Granwalt. Even when I'm dying... I still...Fight for whats right... That's, what it means... To be a true knight..." Then the knight's body convulsed, and he died.
Granwalt walked back to the pedestal, cursing to himself. "Knew I shouldn't have cast 'defy gravity' on those dice... No matter. I still have one with me. And it's the most powerful of all. All that annoying knight did was prolong the unevadable. Helmgard, would soon be his...

Welcome to Dice Quest. It is a forum RPG designed specifically with simplicity in mind. Although at first the rules may seem confusing, if you take them in a little at a time you should be able to understand them. To start things off, I will need either 2 or 3 members, and I will not take anymore. I will start by telling you how to create a character, and describe the opening scene after we have 3 players.

In order to play Dice Quest, you require 5 types of dice (But only one of each.). You need a 4 sided die, a six sided die, a eight sided die, a ten sided die, and a twelve sided die. Or as an alternative, you can use this site.

Each character consists on a variety of things. The most important thing to decide though, is your characters 'Skill points.' There are five skills in Dice Quest. Each one is explained below.
Strength: Your character's physical ability. Their strength determines a lot of other abilities, but that doesn't mean it's the most important.
Intelligence: A measure of how smart your character is. Determines outcomes in tests of knowledge, and is the tie breaker in ties of Initiative.
Agility: A measure of your characters quickness. It is the main factor in determining initiative and determines how fast you can perform different actions.
Will: The most important Stat for a magic based character. Will is a measure of the magical energy flowing into your body. The bigger this stat, the more magic damage you deal, and the more you can cast.
Charisma: A measure of how good you talk to people. Pronunciation and the like. If you want to be able to fool people, lots of points in this skill is a necessity.

You get 15 points for your Skills, and you may spread them in anyway you see fit between the five skills. But no Skill can have less than one point in it, and no more than five. The number of points you put into a Skill determines which type of die you roll whenever you make a roll with that skill.

Next we'll talk about your perks and Quirks of your character. A PERK is something that your character specializes in, or a special ability they have. For example a perk may be: "A Bomb Specialist" or "Training with a whip." If you want to be able to be able to cast spells without a book or staff, you will need to have a Spell Circle as atleast one of your perks. More on those below. Each person gets 3 PERKS. A QUIRK is something that your character is weak to. For example, you may not be able to swim, or have a fear of the dark. Everyone gets one QUIRK.

Spell Circles: A Spell circle is a group of one, two, or three spells that YOU create. Each spell has four attributes. Those are Name, an effect, an MP Cost, and a Cast Time. I will look at your spell and decide on it's MP Cost and Cast time. You simply choose it's name and effect. Each Spell Circle you make takes up one Perk.

Here's your character Sheet. To sign up, simply copy and paste it and fill out what is told of you to do.

I will fill out HP, MP, and Initiative. You just fill out everything else. Note that HP, MP, and Initiative values are all valued based off of your chosen skills.

Also, one last note on anyone who wants to play. The game follows a system known as the 'Death Line'. People sign up after all three slots are filled by posting a comment in my Profile. I add there name into the Death Line, and anytime someone dies, I take the first name off of the list and they take the dead characters place. If anyone has any questions, simply post a comment in my Profile.

Ah! Sorry Guys, I had also meant to add one more thing to the Character Sheet. Each person starts with one starting weapon. It may be anything reasonable, but remember that the RPG takes place in a medieval fantasy world. Also, Straightjake, Xenocrates is accepted, but the Cast time of HP regen will be slightly altered, but just a bit. I will post your full Character sheet in a minute. What will be your starting weapon?

Can I take the Crossbow?

Also, 1 question: Can you gain/make alternative weapons as the RPG progresses? I mean like, for example, having the crossbow AND a knife or something?

To answer your question, yes of course! You may start with a weak Crossbow, but you may eventually buy/find a magical one, or one that is better crafted. You may also find completely separate weapons unrelated to the one you start with. Also, for clarification, a LOWER initiative is better than a higher one. I will explain in full after sign ups. Also, JaketMan, your character sheet will be posted in my Profile.

We have to wait for the other sign ups, but not everyone has to be on at the same time in order for it to begin.
