AK47, the two guns are in completely different leauges:
AK47: Imitation is a sign that it is good, it has been imitated by several nations over it's life. All round solid assault rifle, although it does jam, almost all guns have jamming problems.
M16: Less reliable than the AK47, and don't even think about using it in close combat, it probably will break. There is a reason during Vietnam, the vietcong wouldn't even bother to take the weapons from the americans that died.
The M16 has better range and accuracy then the AK-47 and it's 5.56x45mm cartridge, which is not interchangeble with the Kalashnikov's 7.62x39mm cartridge, can produce nasty wounds due to the effects it has upon hitting the human body. As long as the weapon is properly maintained the M16 shall perform fine on the battlefield.
the M16 is better mostly because it fires better than the AK47 and does more serious damage than the AK47 and wow TexanProvo you seem to know lots about guns
What many fail to realize is that though the AK is easy to learn about, the M16 is superior in almost every other way. I jammed in 'Nam because the soldiers were told that they didn't need to clean it. With some cleaning, the M16 will fire true. Trust me.
In my opinion, if you need to get a large group of guerrillas armed quickly, take the Ak-74. If you want a professional army, go with the M16.
THE automatic Kalashnikov, the worldâs most abundant firearm and a martial symbol with a multiplicity of meanings, turns 60 this year. In some places this is cause to shudder. In Russia it is treated as a milestone to celebrate, and a chance to cry foul.
Once strictly Communist products, the AK-47 and its offspring are killing tools so durable and easy to use that they were heralded as achievements of state socialism and industrial might. Uncoupled from the laws of supply and demand by their origins in planned economies, they flowed from arms plants in the tens of millions, becoming national defense and foreign policy instruments for the Soviet Union and allied states.
But the 60th birthday party has displayed the rifleâs evolving place in both the market and the Kremlinâs mind. These days the Kalashnikov is seen through capitalist lenses, and argued about in ways that could not possibly have been envisioned by its Communist creators.
In cash-hungry Russia, Kalashnikov is now an informal brand. And as purchases of Kalashnikov rifles and their derivatives continue on foreign markets, Russian arms manufacturers and exporters worry not about ideology and world dominance, but over sales opportunities lost.
Most of you don't even know what you're talking about! Some of you got the M16's abilities and the AK-47s abilites completely mixed up! And An ak-47 uses totaly different ammo than the M16.
I would take the AK-47 because you'll rarely engage someone farther than 300 yards away and it is virtualy invulnerable to jamming
First, the AK47 hardly ever jamms, even if you stuff it with sand, snow or anything else . But the M16 jamms a lot, and you need to clean it with special tools . Second, the AK47 can punsh through thick steel, with it's 7.62x39mm cartridge . Though the M16 is more accurate and does less recoil, with it's 5.56x45mm cartridge, it is not effective in battlefields like Iraq and Afghanistan, because it can't punsh through walls where there's a terrorist behind . So, if you wanna fight in vast open spaces, go with the M16 . But if you're fighting with terrorists, where they hide behind walls, I would choose the AK47 . Plus if you want a weapon between the AK47 and M16, that means it's accurate and can punsh through walls, there's the AK74 . BTW, the AK47 isn't a rifle, it's a small machine gun ( Discovery )
