Alot of religion and politics.
If you have ever heard of Frank Drake you will know this theory.
The universe contains about 10 to the 24 (10 followed by 24 zeroes don't know how to do superscript)
Drake divided the number of stars in a section of the universe by the number of stars likely to have planetary systems that could sustain life. divide this number by how many intelligent life has formed. etc with further demands to be met.
no matter what he did the number left still ranged in the millions for the milky way alone (which contains a mere 4 hundred billion stars). However in the words of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy "Space is Big" and average intelligent life would be 200 light years apart. (cool to think aliens could be watching light that left us 200 yaers ago- 1808 was notable for the banning of the importation of slaves to th U.S. and the rediscovery of the Pitcairn islands) Obviously E.T. has not visited. So what are peoples views on aliens.

p.s. Independance Day was on Film4 yesterday so i'm in the alien mood sorry.

If we are living right now (I sure do hope so rofl), then it is a definite possibility of there being other signs of life. Where, no one knows, but we really haven't been that much advanced in the ways of space travel since the 60's. We DO, however, have telescopes powerful enough to reach light years from here, which is indeed a powerful thing, and these telescopes suggest that there is a STRONG possibility of other signs of life.

In order for a planet to be able to give life, it must be in the correct position. Where Terra is at, that's one of the correct spots, but Mars and one of the moons from Jupiter are other good spots. If Mars was just inched in the right direction, it would be hospitable. If Venus wasn't such a "Future Terra" planet, then it too would be hospitable planet as well. You never know though; there could've been life all along in those planets, however, the farthest recorded date of history is 20,000 B.C.E , and that record isn't so much to begin with.

I believe that there is life out there. How much, or how intelligent, I don't know. But we life in as insignificant world compared to the universe. I would not be surprised it there are aliens watching us right now...

There's already a thread here.

Current scientific theories point to alien life. These theories state that, yes, the universe is "big". If one theory is true, then there are infinite other living things because the universe is infinitely large. That means infinite possibilities, which leads to perfectly identical words as ours.

Chances that these aliens have visited our planet: Small.

I believe we are all characters inside some one's dream, and one day, he will wake up
