No matter how frustrated you are crass generalisations like "I hate the human race(/world;insert broad sweeping generalisation here)" is not ok.
I can't help but get frustrated with people who just talk to moan. Fix the problem or try to fobbing it off on someone else with a great big dramatic whinge attached will not help. Emotionally, psychologically, realistically or otherwise.
Feel free to throw in some perspective people. I want to know what the consensus is here. Is the AG community about sorting things out or moaning about what's wrong?
Sadly there are many (too many) people in the world who like to generalise. AG is probably a relatively accurate microcosm in this sense as many peopleon here do moan and moan about things. Then again I would say that is relatively human behaviour.
I know.. All people who generalize, exaggerate, dramatize, and moan are so annoying that I've considered living like a hermit.
The above was a joke, by the way. People dramatize so that people will listen to them and think their problems are important. The problem is that they sometimes the moaners trick themselves.
The thing is it just does not help. We want things to improve we acknowledge they're wrong and improve them. Just complaining for the sake of it is frustrating and selfish.
So if someone have a problem with the president, and they did not vote for him, but he still is the president, then they ought to shoot him dead, to "fix the problem"? This is pretty much for discussion, and much of what is discussed is hard to "improve". Generalisations are typical, as well as stereotypes. There should not be any, but some have better reason than other have. "Gays are disgusting, because they try to flirt with me" would be a bad generalisation, because, well, at least half the homosexuals would not do that (the female part), and the rest have a habit of knowing, when someone is not in the mood, unlike some straight guys. I do know what the title came from, and I must agree that sometimes, the human race is - trash. Not hating humans, though, but for a species with so much intelligence, when how can it be we destroy so much more than even the dumbest animal? Oh well. Somehow I think either the topic or the title is wrong, mostly because I know the background for the statement.
One thing is hate (or a milder form of negative feelings) towards the human race. Another thing is the lack of wanting to improve it.
Do you acknowledge the difference between the two, or will you deny that thinking badly about the current status can include wanting it to become better?
I'm guessing this thread spawned from our conversation. If so, then... *shakes head* I don't hate us. I just think we've taken too many wrong-turns.

So you don't think ranting helps? I usually don't bother doing so verbally... On the other hand I think that is what all discussions are in the end. Even the ones with progressive results.
Btw, I think you could have named the thread better... Possibly just 'cause exclamation marks are "risky" in titles...
Exactly. Of course there is a limit to how much should be ranted in public (in this case meaning a forum), but ranting is not necessarily a bad thing. Problems that can't be solved just like that may cause frustration, and letting it out is not a bad thing (of course depending on how it is done). It's easier to deal with things when frustrations are out of the way anyway...
i dislike it when people say that we are the cause of all problems in the world... if they're that open about it why don't they commit suicide and help the world out a little
i do agree however we are against nature and sort of more an energy consuming species
Regarding generalistions about humans, I actually think the premises behind The Day the Earth Stood Still were pretty well phrased: "most species didn't make it that far" so as to constitute such a vast ecological threat.
I also tire of seeing so much directionless misanthropism buuuut...on the other hand it constitutes discussion and let's face it, we might as well rephrase the discussion under the question "does anybody ever take what's said on the boards seriously anyway?"
I wrote a huge post in a thread assessing Obama's presidency (before it's even begun no less) commenting about the weight of expectation and the "false sense of entitlement" that it brings. I doubt anybody read it. But just so you know, my thoughts on this topic are in that post.

We are indeed the cause of many problems on earth, but some are not just moaning but also doing something about it. Yet I do understand that mostly people like to whine about this and that without moving a finger. It's human. "Stress reliefing".
Myself, I'm studying Biology. Hopefully when I'll have acquired enough knowledge I'll be able to do something concrete. But you shouldn't flame *everyone* this way.
I do hate the actual society, but not the human race. It's possible to change it, but people can either only moan or are so overwhelmed by the challenge that don't know where to start. For many matters, I'm part of the second kind of person.
I find it funny that it's hard for me to kill animals and bugs, but I'm ok killing humans, as long as it's sanctioned by a higher power, aka my commander.
