How so? They're moderators. If they can't do anything like deleting and banning and locking, what's their purpose? Stand around and look authoritative? But I'm sure that will work too given what happened/s in Milgram's experiment.

They do have too much power in some regards, but that's the fault of the userbase who overvalues a mod's opinion.

Would you rather have mods or spam? Personally I think as long as another Switchfoot doesn't happen, we will be fine.

I don't know what they can do

The mods can delete posts and topics, lock topics, ban users, give out merits, change the title of a topic, and they are the ones who generally decide if the ideas on the support and suggestions page are good. Other than that they are just regular users.

Power?

Only the power of patience to delete spam and manage this site.
Think of this.

Um, that's basically the point of mods. They make sure nobody goes absolutely crazy and keep the peace here.

This ain't no democracy. This is a Moderatorship. When a dog gets too unruly, then it needs to be put down. Plain and simple as that. When a piece of paper contains inappropriate or pointless discussion, then it gets burned.

Waaaaaaaaaaaay too little chill force from your side...

I'd say they undervalue the opinion of regular users.

I don't think we have too much power... You know, we have this job helping the admins maintain the site... We're supposed to be able to do stuff... - -;

I wouldnt say that much power, but they do have the power to maintain this site. That's whats important.

well, lessening the power of the mods would be like taking guns and cuffs away from the cops. What would be the point?

i think them having &quotower" is good, because, well, see for yourself... spamming, people swearing/saying rude stuff, although if they (armourgames) add the wrong person to become a mod, well...

I doubt most of you have ever moderated at any forum or website of any sort. Their &quotowers" are not way too much; they're the norm.

great analogy, that ones good.

First of all, mods aren't powerful hungry baron people, they are kind, normally intelligent, legitimate people (except for a switchfoot incident which I don't remember or know of), who look after us in terms of spamming or harassment. I don't think they have any more &quotower" than they should (no, I'm not brown-nosing <_&lt. Remember DemonPriest? Remember My_Sexy_D*** that wasn't too long ago? Those idiots would still be polluting our e-water and murdering our game-cows if it wasn't for the mods!

Moderators have the power they need to make things right if they're messed up. They're only human so they make mistakes, but they also are very good listeners and are always fair. They have exactly the ammount of power they need. If they had less, what would they do? ASK spammers to stop? That wouldn't be specially convincing.

This is why one of the great moderator standards is to be kind and mature to your fellow AG peers. One who wouldn't follow these would abuse their privileges with biased, unreasonable force. Since that hasn't happened (yet), there should be no reason to think that the mods have too much power.
