What was your favorite WWII battle of all time? Mine would have to be against Poland, when we wipped them, no offense to anyone who is Polish, it's just my favorite battle.

I think the "favorite" battle of all time is the one that wasn't fought, most soldiers most likely would agree. I'm assuming you're German by how you said we wipped Poland. While some of the most interesting battles of history originate from the second World War, such as Stalingrad and the Battle of the Buldge, I wouldn't call any of them a "favorite" seeing as men from both sides died fighting for men in offices. War is an interesting subject, but don't forget that you're talking about great sacrifice and loss of life when you talk about it.

True TexanProvo, war is a sacrifice of human life, and it's the bravery of those who answered the call, are the heroes, and they shed their blood to make a better tomorrow. I love Midway, the U.S did kick some Japanese rear. Omaha beach is my 2nd favorite beach, I personally like Juno better, where the Canadians landed

The Battle For Normandy,D-Day,Omaha Beach, because it showed the valor and courage our soldiers sacrificed for the United States for that reason I wouldn't consider and war to be a "favorite" because look what happened. Hundreds and thousands dead if you look on that to pleasant I guess you can have a "favorite".

I don't in anyway consider this to be pleasant, I just thought that it might start up many conversations about battles

Mine would have to go in this order:

1. Kursk. The biggest tank battle the world has ever seen.
2. Operation Overlord. The most massive amphibious attack, and one of the most fortunate as well.
3. Stalingrad. The costliest battle.
4. Battle of the Bulge. Hitler's last gasp.
5. Midway. Because of its sheer decisiveness.

Stalingrad has to be mentioned as it tore the heart out of the German army. The Battle of Britian, because if we lost Britian could have easily fallen. El Alamein becauuse it came at atime when the German army seemed invincible.

I would have to say Normandy Beach was pretty epic, and it was also a key battle.

I quite like the Battle of the River plate from what I know it was such a long time coming and we had to chase the german navy all round the atlantic.
p.s. I know it wasn't WW I but I love the Battle of Jutland both navy's springing traps on each other and retreating both claiming victory.

Ah, Stalingrad, some tears come back, as that is where I lost both of my Great Uncles and my Great Grandpa, they don't sound like much to you, but they were family, killed by Soviets. El Alamein, was a very costly loss, it destroyed Rommel and his Afrika Corps

I also like the Afrika korps, they ravaged Northern Africa, and were invincible, until General Monty came by

Well, "favorite" is a weird term to use. But I think Stalingrad was the pivotal battle in WWII. It cost the most lives out of any battle in history, but it was the first major victory against Germany. Had the Soviets lost that city, it is likely that Fascist Germany would encompass all of Europe to this day.

You pose a very good statement thelistman, and I think that we can stray off topic a bit, and discuss this subject. It's true, if the Soviets had not been able to hold Stalingrad, it gave the Germans a huge hole, in which, they would pour into, and take the Soviet Union by force. The Soviet Union was the decisive team, if you had them on your side, then you would win the war, and if they were against you, good luck in trying to beat them. That's why they are called the Sleeping Bear, once you awake the bear, he's going to come after you.
