To have a delete option for a account. Because it would be kind of un fair for the people trying to get a higher status on A.G.

Uhm, what? To be able to delete your own account, or what do you mean? Just ask a mod to perm ban it, or leave it alone with a closed wall.

Huh? What do you mean? Do you mean that there should be a delete button for users? There is! The moderators and administrators can ban the user whenever they wish.

I would imagine that some people would rather have their account completely gone rather it be lurking around banned somewhere, I would, anyways.

Not a bad idea if you want to delete your own account if you dont want to be here on AG anymore.

I (though I can't see myself using this in the near future) think this it a good idea.

I'd rather remove my account myself than ask a mod to ban it.

Perm ban = deletion.

Why want to delete your own account, though?

Oh you mean for users who are ranked and you want them to delete there accounts so you can rank up faster? Its a leaderboard. I mean its like a record. You don't delete records just so they are easyer to rank up. Don't even worry about the leaderboard anyway. Its not like you get a cookie for making it on there... (oh, oh yeah? oh)... alright you get a cookie but its not that good (the best you say? oh) ... well its good but... well its just a cookie so who cares. Im hungry *steals cookie*.

Some forums (if not most) have a delete account button for the user to use, when he or she gets too tired of the forum and wants to quit, without leaving traces and gates for hackers. Also used simply to say "No more see you", because you are leaving, and do not want to be on the memberlist anymore.

So people with accounts they no longer want to use (or the evidence of an alt account) can delete it without having to inform moderators, who have enough to do already.

Well, it would make sense to have a "delete account" button on the control panel, but you would probably have to ask like 3 times, "are you SURE you want to delete your account? This will be PERMANENT!!!"

Having a delete button wouldn't hurt, and it saves time for the already busy moderators.

Also, permanent ban sounds like your profile can be viewed but will say that it has been banned.

If I were to delete an account I feel it's right to delete it myself rather than having it banned (basically deleted).

MY COOKIE!

Hrm.....any ways.....

Yes, perm bans get you erased from the site completely. But as it is, if you quit i think you should stay o nthe leader board, at least untill someone is able to knock you off. What would be the point of knocking.....me off for example? If i were to say quit in the next month, then decide to ceom back after I deleted my account I would regret it terribly.

I say no for this.

The function Snake suggested is usefull however the reason why he suggest it is something not that good.
Those people that are on the alltime leaderboard (well most of them) worked hard to get on it, therefor its fair that they are on it so its not unfair to new users.

What about hackers?
And it wouldn't save moderator time, as only admins can delete accounts.

A delete button is one of the most important features of a profile, and the administrators probably thought of it that's why they can delete accounts! They didn't make it so that the people could delete their own accounts.

For a few reasons:

1) Some idiots will be like "oh no I accidently deleted my accoutn recover plz"
2) Hackers
3) When people quit, they might come back, like firetail

I don't see this as a bad idea, deleting your account will give you a better reputation then having a permanent ban. Then if you try to create a new account because you want to come back, if you got banned, then other people might not know you wanted to have your account deleted and didn't create an AG crime, so they will report to a mod about you, and maybe that mod doesn't know about why you got banned either, so they ban you again.

But if you think you might want to come back, don't delete it anyways.
I mean, unless you are #1 like me, and have a huge AP gap for #2, it really isn't too hard to catch up to.
