After reading a lot of posts in the "Christianity vs. Atheism" thread, I decided to start a healthy political debate. Just debate about political events and ideals, and don't hold back.
The US isn't a strict democracy. We're actually a democratic republic. ---------------------- Anyway, I think that the embargo hasn't been nearly as effective as it was intended to be. It didn't do anything to stop Fidel from staying in power, and Cuba's economy has actually flourished because of European tourism, so we didn't shut down their economy. I think that the embargo has become more of a tradition than anything. Also, did you know that Fidel Castro has survived over 638 assassination attempts? Astounding, isn't it?

Below is quoted from Wiki, just goes to show the humour of Casto towards sucj asssasination attempts:
"George W. Bush said: "One day the good Lord will take Fidel Castro away," Hearing about this, Castro, who is an atheist, ironically replied: "Now I understand why I survived Bush's plans and the plans of other presidents who ordered my assassination: the good Lord protected me."
my view on politics. we get some rules to follow that and this these and those, no one knows we get these pills to swallow how they stick in your mouth, tastes like gold, oh what you do to me, no one knows
Well, Obama just needs to look over the history of the people he's nominating. We're coming back to the spoils system - he's nominating his political friends.
the tax problem really isn't a major problem. Timothy Geithner is one of the best, if not the best man for the job, and I don't think that a minor problem with very confusing tax laws shouldn't ruin that.

And this process was started by whom, now? I'm pretty sure Obama didn't have many previous connections to these "olitical friends" of his. You want to talk about appointing for loyalty, look at the Bush cabinet. A lot of the stuff that is coming up is stupid and minor.
The way to fix the economy is to get people spending and governments to stop spending. I think that the big bailout is pretty much taking a hacksaw when a scalpel is needed (to quote Obama himself,) but this might actually work... We'll just have to wait and see...
