I Want ENGLAND to win. But Argentina, Brazil, Spain or France will probably win.
Now that is patriotism for you. Its always the same for us. So close yet so far. And we do deserve to win. I think we should be sneeky and persuade Brazil to hire Steve McLaren as manager "he's really good honest".
Who will be our stars Michael Johnson, agbonlahor and Young. That Delfouneso chap. Beckham will still be there. Rooney maybe. Micah Richards and Nedum Onuoha. Preston Edwards in goal maybe. Who knows.
My country's football team isnt really good, but i really hope they win, or at least make it to the 2nd or 3rd place. However, i think Argentina will win...
Why do we deserve to win? In sport no one deserves to win anything, you have to earn the right. Just look at the Krauts. No one thought they'd do nearly as well as they did in the Euros, but they earned their place in the final due to hard graft and mental strength. The winners of these tournaments do not nescessarily 'deserve' it. Look at 1954 world cup final. Hungary probably deserved to win, but Germany still came out on top. (Note that me mentioning the Germans twice is purely coincidental. They were just one example of many where the winners weren't nescessarily deserving).
England always deserve to win. I mean obviously technically we don't, know one does. I think we are know the worst footballing nation in the world in comparison to how good we are (not sure how it was worked out).
The Germans were helped in the euro's by being at home as well. I agree about 1954 kocsis was playing great for Hungary at that tournament and the Mighty Magyars were playing some beautiful football at that period.

Generally we are known as bottlers. Us and Spain (pre 08) were viewed as punching under our weight. We lack team cohesion and mental strength. Hopefully Capello will instil that in the team before 2010.
Still generally I don't belive it is justified to say we deserve to win anything. It smacks of the divine right of the English nonsense. Just because we are a footballing nation and invented the sport we continually underestimate Johnny Foreigner to our own peril. The sooner that mentality is removed from the minds of the fans, and more importantly the players, the better.
Yeah (I didn't realise this thread was serious- time to change hats)
Spain were the previous holders of the worst footballing nation pre 08.
We have some of the best individuals in the world but it hardly ever seems to work on the pitch. Against Spain last week we played great for all of 10 minutes at the start of the game then we stopped.
Also can anyone explain to me why Lampard and Gerrard apparently can't play together. THe pundits keep saying it but never explaining.

Probably too similar to each other. Not enough balance. I really liked the Barry Gerrard combo when Lamps was injured during the qualifiers. Much better to have 1 holding and one going forward.
I thought that against Spain we were distinctly average. Although to hand it to the Spanish they are a top quality side. Their passing and more importantly their movement off the ball is exquisite. They just outplayed us. We are not at a level ready to compete with sides like that yet.
