I think that there are many grammatical errors on the forum. Well I've played a game called KOL( Kingdom of Loathing) where players can send someone an item( I cant mention it here it may offend people) that changes other people's grammar and spelling automatically(such as changing thnx to thanks). The grammar in KOL's forum is quite fantastic compared to other multiplayer games. Is it possible to code it in Armor Games? Just wondering though.
in real life grammer counts for alot, it's true somtimes people do make writing mistakes, i used to untill i learned to pace my right hand in an essay or work... that sounds so wrong
I guess I don't know what the difference is- surely the language skills you use online are the same as those that you use offline? Assuming you used the same language?
Or maybe there truly is, in some people, a separate part of their brain that they use for "grammer on teh internetz". But as far as I can tell I'm not one of them.
Well, people generally( well this may be a hasty generalization fallacy) go for the shortest form of words/sentences on the net cause... well its more convenient. I'm kind of guilty of this( but not on forums!). It's like a bad habit some people can't quit, it doesn;t really matter, but hey perfect grammar rocks!
Everyone should be typing with correct grammar. That's what some jobs look for. I'm glad that I see some people using correct grammar, but then others I see
ye dah game was amazin wif all da grphcs.
That's not an exact quote but it's true. I really wish every one did this.

I do not use the same grammar on the Internet all the time. Sometimes I may decide I don't want to be like everyone else and I will use teh<<see< 'gr4mm4r 0n 7h3 in73rn37z'. Although I don't speak 1337 lol, I just use shortcuts or obvious grammatical errors.
And I don't go around saying 'Oh em gee' in real life, but I will use ZOMG on the Internetz. Same story with 'lol' and such. I don't think that technically counts though since it is somewhat intentional/common addictive Internet habit though.
Are is point tehre of suggestion anymoar??? <<...this thread is actually kinda fun in a way.
In my opinion everyone should just use firefox and follow spell check. Then, the spelling will be solved. If they have bad grammar personally, then we can't solve that. (Your coding helps solve spelling, not grammar)
The Firefox Spell Checker is very good, I use it sometimes to correct spelling mistakes. I do support teaching better grammar and spelling to people. Though some application which would automatically correct spelling would be handy, I wouldn't advise being lazy and not knowing proper grammar.
@Ragingmelon, that's true, the last part of what you said. People will then mispell their entire post, because they know someone or something will come by and fix it.
But you'd think that teenagers can actually spell when they are having converstations and not use the lousy IM lingo.
I was thinking people will learn from these mistakes and refrain from mistakes after seeing the correct forms over and over again!
Things like spellcheck will help you learn, because it shows you that you made a mistake and you get to fix it or it tells you. With a program that does it for you, you won't notice a thing and go on with your life never finding your mistakes. Which causes problems.
Well this discussion is pretty exciting, brushing up my argument skills for philosophy and history lessons. Well, at least my teachers would be happy, I'm spouting what they have always said. " Good grammar is essential, blah blah... * Drivel*"
