A competition to see who is AG's best musician. How do you enter? Make a video and put it on youtube and post the link here. Any instrument is acceptable and singing is also ok. In your video please say YourNameHere's video. I can't wait to see all the entrys. Now we need three judges and all entrys must be in by March 1st. Nothing inapropiate. I will be entering so I am NOT a judge
Hm. See, I'm not going to be able to follow the rounds at all. I *do* have some popular music I've written but it hasn't been remastered and all that...
Anyway, have this anyway. I know I'm going to sound lame saying all the following but I'll be honest anyway: This is a recording of my brother and I doing a (very rushed) rendition of Rachmaninoff's Tarantella from Suite for Two Pianos #2. It was done a few years ago for a sellout audience in the main auditorium at the Sydney Opera House, and that's all the particulars I'm going to give you because if I gave any more, that would make me directly identifiable to you and ruin my ninja groove!
I'm going to sound even more lame saying this, but I'm actually quite ashamed of the standard of the performance. While I have given other public performances since then, this is the most recent recording that I have currently within my reach. My brother and I weren't taking it seriously enough (holiday mode) and at 2:05 there is a clanger of a wrong note, among other things. That was my fault.
Furthermore while I've practiced less, I've gotten a lot better with my understanding of music in the following years (which is why I think the recording I'm sharing with you now sucks), so eh. Right now all I have access to is my 18 year old keyboard with uneven keys and no recording equipment, so it'll be a while yet before I can get something out in earnest. You'd probably have to wait until after I graduate in 2010.
Apologies for uploading the file over one of those filehosting things with premium options and all that. The file is 12mb, hope you think it's worth it.
Sounds that you got an ovation, nice. I also now think that it is better that you don't join in, as I know far to little about the classical instruments. Which also could mean that I'm not good enough to be a judge ^_^
I've putted the song on my iPod, it's the first Rachmaninoff
I feel it is a bit of a pity that I can't (read: refuse) to put a video up as my brother and I trained under the same school of piano teaching, therefore our style at that point was the same and we could play this piece perfectly in sync. Meaning it was amazing to watch in real life.
Anyhow, carry on, have fun with the competition guys!
