Agnostic means you think it's impossible to prove or disprove the existence of god. It can also refer to things such as the afterlife and ghosts, but usually just refers to god.
Yeah I'm also agnostic. There's not enough proof either way to say that one is true, but I think there's more proof of there being no God. I'm not atheist, though. Not unless they prove completely that there is no God.
Well, to clarify, agnostics can be further divided into two broad categories:
1) Those who haven't found enough proof either way to make a commitment personally. You could say this was C.S.Lewis before he converted.
2) Those who hold that you cannot find enough proof either way thus the truth of this is actually unknowable. This is the agnosticism of Bertrand Russell.
Often the latter is misconstrued as outright atheism as it constitutes a willful refusal to make any religions/theological commitments whatsoever.
Many People think I am an atheist, but I will use this time to state again that I am not. I am a non participant in religion, I don't believe in religion. If you are going to ask what I do believe in though, I would simply answer,"I believe in myself".
And atheist says "Theres absolutely no god, it CANT be.".
Whereas agnostics would at most say something in the lines of "Well i dont think theres a god as theres no proof. (But hey, maybe there could be one.)".
Im personally a "careless" agnostic. Dont really know how to call it. Theres simply no proof of anything supernatural like God, but then again there are just so many religions etc. which try to show you proof... You just cant know. So many people believe in it. Why? And as i cant know, i dont care anymore.
Whats the meaning of life then (if theres no heaven etc.)? Well it can be fun at times. If it really sucks for you, go kill yourself. =P But you may as well try to get the most out of it.
Well taylan, I wouldn't recommend killing youself just because life sucks for someone at the moment, but that's how I feel a lot, not caring. There was another thread I said something along those lines, don't remember which one, though. And strop you forgot the third category in your explanation. The group that doesn't give a crap.
