I think mainly because they enjoy doing it to other people they don't care about others they only care about themselves and hurting the ones around them they probably won't even care about their parents who raised them mainly because they raised them to be little demons
The only way to fight back, is not care, or beat the living tar out of them, until they FEAR you.....but I think "A" might be a better idea.
I like "B"!
It depends on how they hurt you. If it's a bully, to feel/look strong. If it's a bad break-up, to hurt each other as much a possible. I hurt someone emotionally only as a last resort 'cause I don't want to sink that low. And it takes more muscles to say something hurtful than to punch the idiot in the face...
God. All these things like "builds self esteem"... Honestly, what kind of excuse is that? People dont "emotionally damage" others because they're depressed inside, they do it because its fun. Thats all there is to it. Its fun for them.
Anyways, people do that for a number of reasons. 1) they could have been harassed in the same way when they were younger 2) they could be trying to get *revenge* 3) they could be being infulenced by someone (peer pressure) 4) they could be upset about somthing that happened in their personall life, and they take it out on people around them....
There are probably about a million other reasons, but those I think are the main ones...
There are many types of personalities and people on the world. Different personalities are naturally bound to clash with each other. I'm sure that most everyone here has come across someone that they just really don't like despite not knowing them very well.

that, and because some people completely deserve it.
Well usually those kind of people aren't loved so they hurt other people so they can feel good bout themselves
People who feel good about hurting others, and continue to feel good when they reflect on what they did, are - sickening.
There can be so many reasons for why people hurt others... Not gonna go into the physicals...
I've been tempted to deliberately hurt people emotionally several times. I think it's because of a strange sense of power. Haven't done it, though. I hurt people enough when I don't mean to, doing it intentionally would just be fluffing stupid...
