Answer. I think if we're like 20-40ft away a guy tries to threaten me with a pistol, though shotguns are bigger, they are not super(Depending on what kind compared to other guns.) powerful, I think a pistol would win, I mean really. Now if it's like Dirty Harry, you got that Harpoon, though that will kill, hurt, and be hard to dodge, I would SOS, shoot on sight of him holding that thing threatening me. I think bigger guns are more for show in a movie. Opinions anyone?
Shotguns are actually much more accurate than they are made out to be in movies and games. If you were in a fight using a shotgun against someone with a revolver, you would most likely win, because the shotgun has some spread fire (Not as much as in games and movies- you actually CAN aim with a shotgun, unlike what the media shows you), which gives you better chance of hitting the other dude, and its harder to survive a direct shotgun blow than a revolver blow. Now, if you REALLY want to win, get a USAS-12 Full-Auto shotgun. That bitch will be all like "OHHHHHH NOOOOOO" and you'll just be like "STEP OFF, NOOKA!" and the USAS-12 will be all like "BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM!!!!!" and the mofos head will just go like "KABOOOOSH!!" and get all over the pavement, which will go "SPPPLLAAAT" cause of all the brains spilled all over there.
But, if its one of your average pump action shotties, and he has a Glock 18, than your screwed, cause he can just go "KRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAKRAK!!!!!!!!!!!!" and shoot you 33 times in a couple seconds, and you'll be full of so much lead, you'll be like "OHHHH SHIIIIIIIIT" and than die.
Well they might be badder but not better. If you held a pistol up to somebodies head and shot then they would die. If you held an RPG up to his head and shot then you'd both die.
Of course you would with an RPG, its not meant for infantry, or people, really. Its made for vehicles. Every weapon has its purpose, so saying that is like saying that a pistol sucks because you cant leave a scratch on a jeep with it. How can you say something like that?
Personally I'd prefer smaller guns, like pistols, just because they're smaller and easier to carry. Lol and I haven't seen many movies with shotguns, so I don't think they're for show in movies. Now, the way to go is a bazooka. That'd be awesome. First thing to come to mind when I say/hear the word bazooka is the Joker blowing up the cop vehicles in The Dark Knight.
If stuck in a one-on-one gunfight the weapon of choice is obviously a KA-BAR.
Isn't that a knife manufacturer? I don't think its a gunfight if someone uses a knife.
And, I repeat, best weapon: USAS-12. Oh my god. Shotgun + full auto = massive overkill rape. Think about it. You only really need one shot to kill with it, unless you somehow manage to miss the chest and head completely, only hitting arms or legs, but its FULL AUTO, which means even if you don't kill the first hit, you get another chance pretty quickly.
