You know what happened to Job? (pronounced Joab) He was an avid follower of God, then one day God plays a trick on him, killing all of sons and daughters, destroying all of his property, covered him in painful boils and scabs, gave him rabies, and finally made him wear a sack as clothes. Thats what happens with a whimsical god.
Maybe the rapture will be tomorrow, maybe it'll be next week. Can God really bare to kill the race of people he worked so hard to create.
Satan asked God how strong Job was. GOd allowed Satan to hurt him as long as he doesn't die. It was all to prove that Job loved GOd. He was worshipping and praying to the Lord the whole time. Job never sinned against GOd even ounce during that.
God was not playing tricks God was proving Jobs faith to he devil and the devil is the one who made all the bad stuff happen to Job and as long as the devil did't kill Job he could do whatever he wanted and not once did Job get mad at Job
He did rub feces in his eyes, I thought that was quite disgusting.... quite....
And really the Bible is a metaphor, I know for sure that not one person could survive through that ordeal and not curse god, even the parishioners and holy men would do the same.
Well he wants us to please, worship, and tell others about him. If we don't live for him then we are full of sin. God cannot be with sin so we can't be with him in heaven. That way we have to be punished in hell forever.
Why do we have free will if we have to live a certain way to not get punished?
Because he wants us to choose to be good. If he forced us to be good, we're basically a bunch of robots. I know you may argue that this way everyone would go to heaven, but in another sense, we wouldn't even be ourselves, and therefore the souls that have been shaped by the ability to choose wouldn't be going to heaven because they wouldn't exist.
