Why does it seem that I can't go on the internet without seeing some comment about "OMG, ur a ton of loooser 12 year olds who have nothing bttr 2 do than play a retarded game like this *** **** **** **** *". What does everyone have against twelve-year-olds? I remember being twelve and hating how no one took me seriously and I was always left out because I wasn't a "teeenaaageeer". Why does such a thing matter? I was much more mature than my 15-year-old brother, yet he was allowed to do more than me.

Main discussion points:
1. Why does age matter and not maturity?
2. Why is 12 the typical cut-off age
3. What's with all of those grammar-killers** acting like being 12 is a bad thing.

* asterisks added for emphasis, I didn't actually swear.
** a grammar-killer is someone who tlks liek dis n also uses numbers and bad apostrophes.

And just to clarify: this is not a twelve-year-old whining. I am not twelve (or under). I just want to know more about this, get your thoughts, and answer my question.

Well i personally think that the "teenagers" wanna have fun cause they know that this is there last chance before they go teenagers like them also i think that maturity doesn't count cause parents think that the younger the more unmature they are and that they act more like children and don't know the consequences of things.

I play on Xbox live and I personally have encountered these 12-year-old events. Well, for starters they have annoying voices, like when they try and act like they are MLG or something and they say stuff like..."Oh, I pwned you *****" or "Dude! You are such a f'ing noob!" It gets VERY annoying with their squeaky little voices. No offense to and 12-year-olds. Haha. Also they really have nothing important to say. Just trash talk like I said earlier. Or sometimes they try and make their voices sound lower...double annoying because it fails... The young ones sometimes don't understand the concept of the games if its team or capture the flag or something like that. They may start team killing or drive in the wrong direction or some such thing. I don't really have anything against 12-year-olds other than they can be annoying and that they kill small mammals...

LOL.

*sighs* Ugh, you didn't understand. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Please, the only explaining I want is in relation to the 3rd question. Other than that, discussion please.

And Tennisman24's comment was kind of useless, as I said I wasn't 12, and because one of the key discussion points is

Why is 12 the typical cut-off age
. Emphasis on the why.

And one more thing to tennisman24: A normal person would guess from comparing my grammar and spelling to yours that I am older than you. So then how old does that make you?

Yeah, they have squeaky voices and have barely reached maturity or puberty.

Just annoying mainly >.<

To be quite straight with you,its a stereotype.Tons of people who are that age have complained before about it,although ironically half of them complained in an immature manner like "OMG I hate people like you that maeks us 12 year olds l00k bad" OK that was a bit of an exaggeration, but I have seen people on You tube say things similar to that. The thing is a lot of preteens and kids on the internet that I have met typically act immature or like noobs...or really just both.So really its easy to create a stereotype, but really if your not 12 or younger then why would you care in the first place. It is rare that people complain about things if it doesn't involve moral issues or effects them in some way.I am pretty sure there is nothing morally wrong with this that I can tell though,so you tell me.Why do you want to know if it doesn't effect you?(I am just going by what I know for right now and am not trying to assume anything, but simply find answers)

mehhh no one knows what age you are from your voice the or the way you talk. That will only tell you maturity. I can talk like im 30 something or i can talk like im 14 it all depends on 1. who im playing with
2. what i am playing
3. do i feel like screwing around

as for the 12-year old thing its the cut off because that is the typical "little kid" since mos of us are 13+ and i wud hope 7th grade and up we see 12 and immediately think 6th grader. I dont know about you but the 6th graders at my school look like little kids to me. This is the same for high every grade, they will call the one below them little. Since 6th is on the bottom of the list when it comes to computer related things their the first to get picked on.

well dang thats enough typing for a few days ha

Ok, point 3 is taken care of. Thank you. I have figured it out now.

But the other questions still stand. And let me add my 2 cents/dollars/copper pieces/dwarfbucks: The thing I see most is that people assume that every twelve year old is just like CederDUDE22 said, and so we have the cutoff. This gets tons of them lying about their ages and etc. just to get around something. And the main thing is that if they are good enough they will stay and be appreciated, but if they are bad they will either go away or be banned. I've just always wondered why people complain about other prejudices (racial, sexist, etc.) but not "agist". This should clear up my OP a bit now.

Anyone who has ever played any game with voice... like Call of duty, or used vent or teamspeak in a crowded room, will run across the typical squeaky voiced hater mentioned above by Ceder... Probably where most of this comes from. Also, it is the younger users on games who often complain when they are low levels, claim that other people are always cheating or whatnot, and just whining in general that they aren't good. Personally, I go farther and will call anyone acting this way a 6 year old (I couldn't care less if you sounded 40, or 16, or 10... if you whine and complain, you might as well be called out on it.)

On the other hand, I have played with kids under 12, who take the game like anyone else, and can be fun to be around...

I have been annoyed at how my friends act when I offer a younger kid to hang with us, and also I am interested on why it is twelve and not, say, eight, fifteen, thirteen, or older/younger.

Spelling and grammar really have nothing to do with age, or maturity. It'd be unfair to base spelling on age, since plenty of younger kids can type just fine, while plenty of older people will type lazy grammar because they are very used to computers, and the lingo involved...
12 is probably the cut off because people would like to think that once you become a teen, that you mature a little bit.... not exactly true, it can happen before or after that ( i know people 17-18 who on occaision act like they are 5... not saying they are bad people, but everyone is different).

I have also learned if you ask them their age and they don't answer they usually aren't that young, but if they DO answer, well they will tell you their age anyway, and it will usually mean that they are 12 or younger. Or they just try and act as old as possible. haha. And I still think they kill small mammals. Seriously I wanna see some fights between PETA and a bunch of 12-year-olds.

On a forum based on maturity, don't you find this a bit... immature? really not setting a great example to argue that 12 year olds are immature and whatnot, then go on to post that Ceder.

Becuase It's totally immature to have fun sometimes redwinger. I'm just messin' around a little bit. And I didn't really say anything about them being immature, I just said they can be annoying. Haha.
