Am I the only person here who enjoys playing Text-based games? I have lots of fun doing it and you meet lots of new friends. They are difficult and they allow you to imagine everything the way you want it to be.
If you don't know what a text-based game is, try this one out.
I myself have played text based browser MMO games and I find them simple and fun. They however are not good for people who find text and images boring. I play KOL or Kingdom of Loathing.
All my real life friends say I'm a noob for playing them. I love them though!
That sucks. I enjoy playing retro games very much. For me (and since my computer cannot support newer games ) I do not care if a game is old, I play it for the enjoyment. Noob is not the appopriate term for that anyway, they are using it like an insult not a word to describe what "noobs" actually are.
The guy who created Space Federation was a Philipino student in university. He made the game and put a paid account feature in it. He shortly abandoned it because nobody would play it. Now it is really popular and heaps of people have paid accounts.
He probably doesn't know this so if he checks his bank account sometime he's gonna have a heart-attack.
I think that they are fun sometimes, but I find it very annoying when I am trying to find a non-text game to play and google comes up with 50 pages of text-based games.... besides, in the simplest ones, all you do is sit there and build units and pray that you don't get attacked.... in the complicated ones it's hard to figure out what you're doing, though some of them are aided by a graphical representation of SOME things, but ultimately I just get bored. If I'm playing a videogame, I want to be killing my braincells, not having to use them =D.
so, they are good to run in the backrounds while you're playing another game, oor if you have a slow computer, but I would get bored if that was the only thing I was doing.

Text based game use text and images in gameplay. Mostly, you just click on stuff. They lack interactivity compared to "real" games.
Text based games are found mostly on the internet and can be played in the browser. Before, in the earlier days of video gaming, text based games were common.
One text based game that is fun is KOL Kingdom of Loathing. The game is pretty much a satire/parody to pop culture, politics and everything else in the world.
