I am making this thread to show you how ghost accounts I have found in just 15 minutes of searching. Please ignore the inappropriate names, I had a good idea that people would choose them. I think that ghost accounts should be monitored so that people don't spam on them. It may wipe out a small amount of spam. I am not saying that we delete them, just monitor and watch them

Who's going to watch over them? Some of them created accounts 4 or 5 months ago and never returned because they simply forgot that they have an account here. Most ghost accounts are made like that.
he probably mistook it as a typo for a slur against African Americans, used in America.I have to say you must have been bored to go out of your way to find all of these, but it just proves the point about ghosts accounts.
how do you find them? Do you just enter random names in the url?
I entered random user names, and I was pretty sure that some weird people would be using swear words and inappropriate ones. I was right for a lot of them. And it also seems to me as if one of the accounts was deleted, by the stars I see their.
WOW that is alot maybe we should just delet them there is no point of them is there?
I said monitor them, not delete them. Some people come back you know. But many don't look like it.

I don't know, maybe system that keeps track of what happens on accounts that have zero points, so they can't be abused. Yes, some ghost accounts were used, but I made sure to only go on those that had 0 points or the odd 2 AP. I define ghost accounts by those that haven't been edited in anyway and have never been active.

Yes, I saw it as a racist word, but looking at the definition of the word I now see it is a river and a country. Okay, good to know.
@Unlimited Power: Finding these accounts is one thing, but replying on them is another. Kind of hypocritical, isn't it? Going out of your way to find ghost accounts because people spam in it? Again, what's the point of commenting there, when you know darn well they are inactive?

Simple answer: spam. People want AP so they go around to profiles noone knows of to spam there and never get reported.
The idea sounds good, but there's noone to watch them about. You could recruit another mod but every extra mod you recruit increases chance of a corrupt mod. And I think the mods do good work. You could also make a few guys "watchers" who check those accounts, but this would only result into more reports to mods so they have even more work. No can do.
Nice idea but I think it's too hard to realise or put it to use

That's all fine and dandy for those that don't know, but look at their comments. Half of them were replied to by ulimitedpower, and he knew that they were ghost accounts. Again, I'm calling spam on him.
I think there might be a solution. AG could set up a new group, maybe called Wtchers, as healmeal said, and give them the power to investigate and eventually delete ghost accounts. It could work if you gave them less power than mods, like make it so that two or three have to agree upon it for an account to be deleted. There could even be a special forum for one watcher to report a ghost account, and then the other watchers could check it out and agrre to delete it. That way, we get rid of ghost accounts, don't put on a ton of extra stress on the mods, and don't risk one rogue watcher deleting a bunch of legitimate players accounts.
Then you could not completely delete the account when the process has been completed; store a residual file of it on the site. Then, a person who's real account had been deleted could appeal to a mod, who would restore it and ban or demote the offending Watchers.
