He's High Warlord Bush. He can put anybody in jail for as long as he wants.

I thought insulting or trying to cause harm to a foreign head is a crime? And yeah, if someone throws a shoe at you, won't you be angry? Btw, what happened to the guy that threw his shoe at Wen Jiabao?

I have no idea...

and plus other iraqui's viewed what the man did as an insult to his position also wouldn't u through a shoe or worse at someone who you believed had destroyed your home and ur country?

.......Ahaha! I laugh everytime I see that! I mean Bush has some fast reflex's! Just imagine if that hit him!

Anyway, I don't think that he should have been jailed for three years. C'ome on a show? Although I guess it is like an assault on another from a diffrent country. Act of war?

wow i didnt know that he was jailed for three years.... i guess it is not really a smart idea to throw something at such a highly ranked person of the world, but three years is really harsh

No matter whether what the moral import might be, if you're willing to make an example of yourself on such an international scale you should be prepared to face similar repercussions.

That said, I'm not sure there's much of a precedent for this. I mean the president of Iran (Ahmedinejad, if I recall correctly) was heavily lambasted when he visited the US but this appears to be on a completely different scale.

he deserved what he got, the Iraqi government wants to suck up to the US. Assualting a foreign head is punishible by the law.

The man has become a national icon and has gained the support of his family and friends.

For those who didn't know, if he was to have thrown his shoe at any regular citizen, he would have received 3 months jail time. But since he threw them at a national figure, and he was charged with a count of battery.

I agree. I don't know how can you expect a worm welcome from someone who you occupied.
Three years is harsh but I guess Iraqi authorities had to give him that sentence.

For a shoe throwing incident. Did it even hit Bush? I mean they can hardly call it battery can they.

I think he is being made an example of.
