This may be border, but I noticed that there was a thread about phillias, and other fetishes, so I think this should qualify.
Well, Hermaphrodites (for who that do not know) are people with both sexual organs. It's a birth defect, and It's most likely genetic (I do not totally know), where, as said, you have both a "man part" and a "woman part". Normally, one organ is larger than the other, and ones just kinda ... tiny. I, personally, feel kinda bad for them. It must be really awkward to have both, right? I mean, even if your mate is OK with it, it must be hard to find one that's not phased by it, and when it comes to your first time it'd kinda have to be for someone that loves you for who you are, right (besides a most likely existent fetish)? So what are your thoughts about them?
Genetics could make it more lily it would occur but not make it definently happen. If one of your grandparents has blue eyes but neither of your parents do you could still have blue eyes because they still have the genes to make blue eyes. (if that makes sense)
well now before i have a kid im gona go to a doctor with my wife and make sure that we dont have any messed up genes..and then have kid..i dont want to father a kid who would have to go threw something like that..
In today's world, not all people are compassionate about these sorts of things, I mean, imagine if people knew that you had that disorder. You would be subjected to endless ridiculing and insults. I really do feel bad for the people that have this.
To address discussion since my posts on first page:
I think it was Fritz who mentioned this earlier...in most incomplete intersex syndromes a presumptive gender is decided and cosmetic surgery undertaken on the neonate etc. etc. However recent practice acknowledges that this kind of "laying God with gender" just doesn't work come puberty as, to put it basically, you could screw a person up for life thereafter. Also, most frequent is male to female transformation as cutting off is a much easier surgical option than building and putting on.

Genetic counselling is very important for certain congenital disorders e.g. thalassaemia, but I doubt hermaphroditism can be predicted via genetic means currently.
Also the incidence of intersex syndromes is quite low.
Like a hermaphrodite has a kid and then it has it too.
As I said on the first page this is best thought of as an mutational event, meaning that as far as I know I don't believe it's inherited.
Don't quote me on that though, I get the feeling nobody really knows yet.
