Texas is quite a common destination for officer swaps and the like. My CO spent 2 years in Texas as an instructor. I hope to be up for a swap someday, it would be a great experience to spend time with an American sqn.
Out of interest do you know what regiment they were from? I have a brother in the parachute regiment (UK airborne).

Yeah, well, there's only one base where people can go through their Air Force training in the United States, and that's at Lackland AFB in San Antonio.

There are 3 types of officer. One is where you go over as an instructor. Anotheris when you go and spend time as part of a domestic US sqn, and the third is an operational swap, when you go on a tour with a US sqn, most often to Afghanistan.
The 1st type is most common, the 2nd type is quite common and the 3rd type is quite rare. I would prefer the second type, it would be an interesting experience getting used to the diferent systems and flying different aircraft, without the pressure of being on a tour. I wouldn't like the idea of going on a tour in a relatively unfamiliar aircraft.
