The virus is from China, it was using a Chinese script, so microsoft is closing in on them. There is also a 250,000 bounty on them that goes to whoever can find them.
I can't say I noticed a difference at all especially now the dust has settled. I'm not sure if I have tthe latest software or anything but hey its all good.
i wasn't on my computer that day so i don't see what was supposed to happen...but the day after my computer seemed perfectly fine...probably some stupid joke pulled by some stupid people who have a very weird sense of humor
I dunno, I don't see anybody who says they got it. Maybe it's just lying low. I don't think that they would make such a big deal for an April Fool's Joke.
stupid joke in the first place..but it probably has something to do with money...maybe they thought that if they scared people into thinking their computer was gonna blow up they would advertise some of their antivirus software and make a killing...so stupid i hope they didn't make a single penny or half of a penny or a fourth of a penny or an eight of a penny..well actually i hope they made a shit load of money then the FBI arrested their stupid asses and through them in jail for scaring the living shit out of most of the public.
April 1st, my computer seemed to be running rather slow that day so I would say it exists, but my computer seems fine now. People and their greed over money...trying to sell me some crap anti-virus software. I hope the person/they burn.
As long as you had updated windows software, you had nothing to be afraid of, the only people at risk were those with pirated versions of windows, or those who hadn't updated since october '08.
It wasn't a hoax, and the only change was that it would use a wider variety of possible domains to use as a host, making it harder to track, and prevent.
tennis, if you did get it, it was just due to the fact that you never upgraded your windows software, and id say you probably got another trojan type virus if anything.
@ kirby It disables access to anti-virus servers and websites in an attempt to make it harder to remove, but you can get around it, there were guides published prior to that gave info on what to do IF you got it.
I saw on Yahoo! on the front page about that. It got me interested so I looked a bit further into it... and finally read that Microsoft gave I think about 2 million to catch the guy who made it!
