I was in SS class and my teacher was telling us about how to save gas money some businesses were talking about 4 day weeks.

That does sound good at first but then we'd have to go to school like 2 hrs more each day.

What do you think.

I would have to disagree on this one because even though it would be saving a lot of gas it would just be too hard and weird for people to accustom to this new system. Also I like getting out of school at the time I currently do, but if you really think about it 2 hours more seems nothing compared to a whole day off from school. So actually I don't really know what we should do because it's good points on both, but in the end I guess I'm going to say that I think is would be a pretty cool idea for this to happen.

I'd rather go to school for 4 longer days than 5 shorter days.

Hey AAA, is it because of Good Friday? If so, then I'm not going to school on Friday either just to let you know.

Wait if it starts on Friday then why don't you have to go to school. Don't you have to go?

If you think about it it would be like 1 hour and 15min-30 min because that would be 6 hours aka a school day when added together which would be a good thing in my opinion because we would have more time to do homework in school and i like less homework

You see, now knowing that, I think it's an even better idea because it's good for the students and helps the enviroment a lot. Hopefully this would actually happen in the nearuture.

Technology has advanced enough so that public schools could be done away with altogether, or at least the building. It's already starting, sort of. You can now take some college classes online.

Now that would save loads on gas.

You guys are forgetting something...
1) Your mondays will beat the crap out of you.
2) Homework each day will exceed normal limits
3) School will be longer, killing your daylight hours OR School will start earlier, killing your sleep.
4) Weekend homework will become a must
5) Alot of your projects will become home-projects, very painful since you have no "DO IT AND QUIT SLACKING OFF" teachers behind you. [At home, you might just see yourself working on your work, and then the next minuite watching familiy guy]

Just some bad reasons.
And it doens't make a different, Congress would probably slap the bill in its face if that happened. Cutting Gas usage is important, but stopping the school system would make teachers have to start over on things again, making the whole system disturbed and our Countrys education is important.

I've heard of a lot of schools already doing the 4 day school week, and it would save a lot of gas... the only thing I would have to give up is my awesome dismissal time Lol

Since their raising college standards and stuff wouldnt that be a bad idea?

It's funny how the 420 guy revived this, but discussion continued as normal.

A four day school week isn't bad if two hours are added. If one starts school at eight and finishes at four, two extra hours shouldn't be bad.

Depends on how the student copes with it.

I kinda like the idea.

Well, it is a good subject?

I already have a 4-2 days week (meaning that at the most, there are four days a week, I am going, the least is actually 1 day, but:P)
Hurrah for university education.

Or five in some cases.
Many schools in Denmark got hours from 8-8.30am to 3pm.
