alright, now before any moderators think of locking this, please hear me out.
The "Rate the _____ Above You" threads weren't about lengthy conversations, so I see where you're getting the whole "spam" thing, they were simply about guys with similar music tastes having a place to see what the others thought of individual songs.
They were taken care of for these reasons: -Several clones of the same idea -Really spammy comments -Clogged up the forums/pushed all others off first page.
That's why. Anywhere else in the forums would be the same.
