ok topic is christianity in schools, im stuck in the middle of the bible belt so ever where you turn theres another church, thing is i go to school and its even there (im in 8th grade) and theres teachers teaching it. I personaly am an athiest (or however you spell it) and get upset about the teachers doing this, i have one teacher (language) thatll be talking about a book or something an say for examlpe: "ya we all know thats wrong to do that, it says so in the bible", and i try to get up and say " hey im not a christian or anything so can you please not mention that", and EVERYBODY gets mad, and i get sent to the office and have to talk to the counseler. What i really hate about it is that everybody says there a chirstian, even the hardcore "gangster" kids.what do you guys think about it?
Also im forced to go to church, i actuly just got back from church about an hour ago, do you guys think this is right that my parents force me to go?
your parents are only trying to look out for you and do what they think is best for you. if you have a problem then you should talk to them. as far as school i think that allowing religion into schools could cause problems. even violent ones. but being a Christian myself i think that we should still keep the two separated. but i have been to schools that can operate well without the idea of separation of church and state.
but you did do the right thing as far as speaking up with being uncomfortable with that teacher talking about the bible. if your school counselor is telling you too deal with it tell him to go ta hell! he shouldn't be doing that and plus the principal should be talking to that teacher about those statements.
I think it's pitiful that Christianity is accepted in school, but the second someone with a pentagram t-shirt walks in they get in trouble. S**t like that happened all the time when I was in school.
I'm a Christian, but I don't care what others believe in, I mean it's their lives, not mine. I hate it when parents force ya to go to church. I don't think they should, I know that they are the parents and have the power, but they can't force you to do something you don't belive in. I hate going to church, but that is only because the other kids there are jerks and are not very friendly (they soooo are showing how a Christian is supposed to act.) But you should be tolerant too. I am ok that other people say that this or that is right because that is what their religon says, I can't change their ways of thinking, I can try to show them my points of view in a nice manner, then we both have new thoughts floating in our heads and can come to new conclusions. You should just be tolerant of what other belive. I have to deal and study evolution so you might as well have to study Creation.
What in that paragraph gave you the idea that this kid is an "idiotic little brat"? You're the kind of person that gives Christians a bad name. This kid is simply standing up for what he believes in, one of the most righteous things a person can do. I'm also an athiest and my parents force me to go to church. The only reason I comply is because they are my parents and they provide everything I have and I owe it to them to go to church and at least pretend to pay attention. As it stands, you are a great piece of proof that shows what a narrow minded and ridiculous religion Christianity is.
I think its a good thing to be taught. im not christian but i go to a catholic school and i enjoyed learning about itl. the teachers didnt force it on us and we got to learn about hinduism etc. this year for my alevels, im even learning about my own religion, paganism. it was due to the well taught christianity however thats made me apply to do religion in uni
I think religion is ok until people try and force it upon 'nonbelivers'. So i think its wrong that you are forced to go to church and the hing about it being taugt in skls is just stupefying. No wonder everyone thinks americans are either obese, stupid , religious or all 3.(not me personally but those are the main stereotypes to do with americans)
