ok topic is christianity in schools, im stuck in the middle of the bible belt so ever where you turn theres another church, thing is i go to school and its even there (im in 8th grade) and theres teachers teaching it. I personaly am an athiest (or however you spell it) and get upset about the teachers doing this, i have one teacher (language) thatll be talking about a book or something an say for examlpe: "ya we all know thats wrong to do that, it says so in the bible", and i try to get up and say " hey im not a christian or anything so can you please not mention that", and EVERYBODY gets mad, and i get sent to the office and have to talk to the counseler. What i really hate about it is that everybody says there a chirstian, even the hardcore "gangster" kids.what do you guys think about it?
Also im forced to go to church, i actuly just got back from church about an hour ago, do you guys think this is right that my parents force me to go?
Even though in my school, they aren't "officially" Christian, they still do a lot of things to support it, like making a club that meets every Friday, Christian activities, and other things like that.
How is an Atheist supposed to live like that? Everywhere you look there is a bible, or a poster saying join this Christian event.
schools should not teach religion it should only be a optional class. Im agnostic so i hate when someone tries forcing me to liesten to crap i dont beilive in
Yeah, what schools do you go to? I have never once seen a bible in my school, Nor have I seen Christian principals been taught. Am Not following.
Also, if they're trying to PERSUADE you, and change your way of life, its not wrong to hear it. It IS wrong to call it crap. I wouldn't call you're belifs of being agnostic crap, dont' call Christianity crap. I has respect for religions. :P If your being forced into it, don't believe it.
I go to a Christian Classical school. It's not that bad, but everyone there is kinda....strange....but anyway i don't see much use in putting thought into this post, but that's just my personal opinion.
"if you don't do what the bible tells you, your going to hell" You are but I wont fight i am a Christian. and I dont hate other religions. my wife is catholic and I love her I dont hate anyone and i dont hold your religion against you.
They are your parents, so at this age you really don't have much say in it. Just believe what you want to believe and don't be a sheep by following others blindly. Once you get older you will be able to do what you want.
I was raised very Catholic, and right now in my life, i don't know what to believe, I still consider myself Catholic, but with some doubts. I am just grateful for being raised that way because i have a very good and moral base.
You live in an area where it is culturally required for you to be Christian, which doesn't necessarily work for you. I agree, it is stupid for the gangsters and others to claim to be Christian, when they do not live by Christian ideals. but there are always people who claim to believe in something, but do not live it. When you get older you will figure things out, sorry about the tough situation.
Your claims against Christianity seem to be emotional driven and quite dogmatic. You make claims that the people who wrote the bible were lairs, which is absurd.
The people writing the bible had nothing to gain by saying Christ was the risen savior. If anything, most of his flowers went on to a horrific death, including Peter being crucified upside down.
Need I say that this was the same Peter that denied he knew Jesus 3-times during his crucifixion. The only plausible explanation to such a change, would be the fact the Jesus appeared to Peter after he rose from the Dead.
Lastly, if you are making up a religion; you don't include passages such as 1 Cor 7:25, which is basically Paul answering a church saying 'I don't have any new Command to give you, but trust my opinion as someone who is trustworthy'.
So Paul does not 'Make up commands' nor did he invent anything in Scripture.
2 Tim 3:16 says 'All scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching, correcting, rebuking and training in righteousness'
i have one teacher (language) thatll be talking about a book or something an say for examlpe: "ya we all know thats wrong to do that, it says so in the bible", and i try to get up and say " hey im not a christian or anything so can you please not mention that", and EVERYBODY gets mad, and i get sent to the office and have to talk to the counseler.
The First Amendment of the constitution states that every person has the freedom to religion. Thanks to this, no one can force you to change your opinion about religion, so don't let anyone. Now, the Amendment includes freedom of EXPRESSING religion. Just becuase your teacher quotes the Bible doesn't mean she's trying to convert you. If you feel offended in anyway, just ignore her. You can't in theory stop someone for practicing their rights.
I personally believe that we should put prayer back into school, but allow those who don't believe in Christianity to stay out.
personally im a strong believer in Christ (christian is what some people call it) but its got such a bad name
anyways yeah i dont think it should be forced in schools i think the teacher has a right to speak it seeing as its her perogative but not to teach it
yeah ur parents making you that really stinks but your got very little say in it at the moment i think w/e your parents say you should do but i wouldn't force my kids so yeah
