Yes, it was an homage to Lincoln Park in Santa Monica. They actually would have been called Hybrid Theory had it not been for another band already existed, known as Hybrid.

So they named their album that instead?

No man their name first was CHESTER but when Chester joined the band it was called HYBRID THEORY and after that they decided to call it LINKIN PARK when Mike Shonda was driving through Linkoln Park

The albums might have a connection to the banned name like for example Meteora. Its hard why dont you ask in some official web site or something.

Not sure about that name, but I do know that they were named Meteora until there was a problem with some company in the UK I believe.
