It requires talent for any music, really. . .for me, it's more of the vocal style of death metal that turns me away. Some of the lyrics are good, but I'm just not a fan of the vocal style. Sort of an acquired taste, I guess.
Are you serious.....? None of those bands are even slightly close to being death metal.
He never said they were. If you read his post closer you would see that his favorite bands aren't death metal, but metal. He then listed his favorite metal bands.
Hate it - Bang Bang Bang Scream Yell Stuff you can't even understand etc, can't sing so they have to yell.
If you look back at the 2nd post you pretty much said exactly what I predicted. Anyways, I'm just gonna post what I said in another thread since I don't feel like typing anything:
"Death metal takes just as much talent as any other sub-genre of heavy metal music. I would like to see you pick up a guitar, bass, or a pair of drum sticks and play a song by Death, Nile, or Spawn of Possession. The vocals are not just incomprehensible screaming. The vocal style used in death metal is known as "death growls". If all death metal vocalists were just screaming then there voices would be completely gone after about 3 shows."
And just to add something else. Just because death metal vocalists use death growls doesn't mean they can't actually sing. Take a listen to Opeth. their vocalist, Mikael Akerfeldt, goes from using to death growls to using clean vocals.

Jeffhatescarl specifically asked for his favorite death metal bands so I assumed he was saying those bands were death metal.
It's not that I don't like it, it's just that, well, I don't like it at all. I'm into soft music with low vocals. Oh, and having to listen to someone screaming in a song is really annoying.
Classic Rock = Great Rock = Good Metal = Bad Death Metal = Terrible Screamo = Horribly Terrible
Also, little comments like the one I quoted are really starting to get on my nerves. If you like something, it doesn't mean everyone else has too...
you need to respect others opinions just because they don't agree with yours doesn't mean their wrong. And don't post stuff about death Metal if you don't even know what it is. Like Nickelback is saying, its not screamo.
