Okay guys. I suffered a fairly serious back injury which meant I missed alot of school (five weeks) and am very behind, mainly in philosophy. Anyway, who knows enough about Aristotle to help me make sense of this book?

Just ranting about what you know would help alot. It's already all in huge slabs of text but written in a way I understand would be great. I'm not asking you guys to do research or anything for me. Just help me understand what you alredy know.

Yeah, the problem with that is that it's not divided into chapters. And we're not doing most of the chapters. But yeah, I'm still trying to decipher it having wikipedia be my best bet so far.

Hahaha, how exciting

The Ethics is a pretty long read, so it would help to kind of know what you're reading about - I doubt it's the entire thing. Ummm, when you're reading, here's some things to keep in mind:
Aristotle talks a lot about virtue, but "virtue" for him doesn't mean what it does for us. By virtue, he really means something you're good at. Just google aristotle virtue so you can get a good citation for that.
The Ethics is about moderation. Aristotle believes there are certain qualities at the end of each spectrum and he talks about these. So, in dealing with money you can either be stingy or philanthropic (he uses different words). But both of these extremes are vices. The virtue is the ability to stay in the middle of these extremes. Aristotle uses other examples... I'm trying to think of them...
Well, you have the book. Let me know what parts your reading (just what is he talking about in general) and I might be able to help more.
