we all know the ps3 is better than the 360 and psssh wii but y is this remarkable machine's price sooo D-word HIGH!?!i mean ima cheap gamer but DANG!so wat do u think should happen 2 the ps3?a price drop?destruction?pwnage maybe?idk u tell me...
I like the 360 much better then the PS3..for now. Right now, there are no really good PS3 only games. MGS is okay along with R:FOM. I don't need a blu ray player that bad. Frankly, that's the only reason i bought it. But, if you don't need Blu ray, a "up quality" DVD player works GREAT! But, for now, I'll stay on my 360. When something AMAZING hits the PS3, I'll start playing again.
The price is so high due to the obscenely high development costs & Sony is trying to recoup some of their expenses by passing that price off to their customers.
The PS3 costs $1000 to make but opened for $500 They took a loss on every sell.
The main reason is the blue ray player. The other issue is that they can't make the PS3 backwards compatible with the PS2 so they just put a PS2 INSIDE the PS3. Come on, that's a lot of dedication to the gamer.
It was nice how they made the PS3 100% backwards compatible with the PS2. Though in response to dissatisfaction with high costs, they removed the inclusion of the PS2 components in newer PS3 models. Instead, PS2 emulation is used which of course cannot be completely accurate. And no, the PS2 is not an old piece of rubbish.

I'd disagree with the backwards compatability. There's so few people I know that play old games, and those that do don't even sell their old systems. If they were really paying attention to what the gamer wanted, they wouldn't include the backwards compatability & take off the extra cost to the consumer.
