How about Armor Premium, that's right!
You pay about 10$ for three months or whatever, and you get loads of new goodies, such as premium only armatars, a special star next to your username EVERYWHERE, no advertisements, those are just a few ideas!
So what do you think? It could actually help to support the site in a huge way.
I dislike all the 'Premium Members!' and ect that you have to pay for. As long as we don't lose anything that we already have that goes to the premium members though I'd be quite ok with it. It's a good idea.
It's advertised on the site that AG is completely free. I'd hate to pay for extra content. On the good side though, it can help AG.
What they said. But there is another problem:
What to do with premium members that spam and flame? Can they just be banned? Then you are refusing them the rights they bought, are you not?
At some point the only thing you could do is to simply warn them and look the other way (devArt is doing this, and it is NOT working).
Mainly, premium members will not work in forums, as rules broken would lead to banning, which would lead to suing AG for taking money for nothing/taking away the privileges.
Charging for services is generally a signal of the transition from a service-based model to a capital-based model.
Whether the administration chooses to do anything like that would be entirely up to whether the administrators have an entrepreneurial attitude. Somehow, in this case, I doubt it will happen.
Well, Cenere, there is one workaround for that, which I've seen implemented: make the clauses of the TOS very clear: subscriptions are non-refundable and the administration reserves the right to permanently ban your account and revoke your privileges without refund. Those who choose to pay for premium services would have to think very very carefully about what they want out of the site.
Either way it does not seem like something that would work in the context of ArmorGames.
And AG has to set up mailing addresses...Paypal transactions...Kinda alot of work. AG's policy is that the site is free to use. That's why its so popular. And people may not want to pay money for extras that are quite minor. Then again, if you limit excess to games/Forum sections etc to premium members, it'll upset non-premium ones.
AG has it's funds. Through ads and the like.
Cenere on that matter, some sites have a policy to where they hold the rights to ban you without giving you a refund at any time, but on this matter I am going to go with a huge NO!!!! I truthfully hate it when these sites have certain options that you have to pay for. Truthfully this site needs work as it is, but if they were to do that then it may deter people away towards another site where everything is free such as Kongregate. I just don't see this happening with any flash game site.
I am still remembering Tracerella... I am pretty sure she is still not banned, even though she trace art and call it her own. She has 8 years of subscription.
Another, regular user traced her art, said it was traced and could be found there and there. That user was banned...
DevArt does have a lot of problems with that kind of things, and they seem to be very no caring..
But of course you are right about the ToS.
Just to add, it's not really that good to charge people for a Flash Game site. I mean it's alright for big multi-player ones. But for a user-submitted game site? Definitely no.
@Legend:
Well, the OP says this:

what is that?
It is a paid account, where you get extra stuff because you pay.
unlimited power
The reason I play and like Armorgames so much is because it's free. All it requires is a sign up and you can get all the features of a user. If we were to pay, lots of users(Like me) would simply leave, and I'm sure some of our best users(Cenny, Pazx, Skater...) would too.
Thing is, if we started righting term and agreement things like that, it would give the impression that Armorgames is a scandal company and has as many back doors as Microsoft to steal your money and still not give you what you bought. Like online shopping, it's a bad idea.
No offense, but I think Armor Games makes enough money and that they will probably lose a lot of there players if they aren't able to get everything in the site unless you have to pay...
