Shotguns for sure, there is probably nothing better than being able to put a hole the size of a plum in someones stomach...oh actually i can think of a number of things that are better. Although, on the merit of wound size I'd say shotgun

well shotguns are good for multiple short ranged targets but machine-guns are good for multiple mid range targets. so ill have to say machine-guns.

machineguns because they are way faster, they can shoot the enemy dozens of bullets before the enemy could even lift the shotgun.

I'd go with a machine gun, because it is faster than any other gun.

I have amazingly terrible aim so if I miss with my shotgun, I'm pretty much dead.

With machine guns, I can just go crazy

Sub-Machine Gun wins.

Shotguns are effective in close range and they pack a punch but the delay between shots is the only tremendous setback. Reload time is also problematic.

Machine guns require a lot of ammunition to carry around and are not portable.

I would sure as hell go with a trusty machine gun. Sure it's heavy but I have a better chance of surviving.

I prefer semi-automatic shotguns the most.

sub machine guns win they are faster and more easy to move with and are better but maching guns are good for long-range

In games, I would have to go with Shotguns, however in real life, I would go with neither because they are both tactless guns.
