Confederate Flag? Lots of people where I live love their Confederate Flag and love to decorate everything with it. I've seen a couple of tags and t-shirts with the Confederate Flag on it that also read "Heritage not Hate".
What do you guys feel about the Confederate Flag? Do you think its a heritage symbol or just one that promotes hate?
A quote in relevant to this argument. "Your heritage promotes hate."
Well, since I am not black, or have any black relatives (does 1/4 count? :|) I can't really say whether or not I have hatred toward the "hate promoting heritage". All I have to say, is that if my people had to suffer through 100 or so years of slavery (lol american history = 300 years...) I would also come to dislike the confederate flag.
Confedracy wasn't a symbolism of slavery, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the flag, especially since the country now hates racism. Your flag doesn't promote racism anymore, so your flag does not promote hate.
Whatever people say about its true meaning, it will always equal rednecks and racism in my mind. It's just a sign of ignorance, akin to seeing England flags on show when there isn't any football going on.
Most Blacks find it racist, My family got yelled at by neighbors for just flying one since bad weather tattered our american one. But I dont care, I see people with confederate flags flying on their cars. theirs a truck somewhere with "General lee" written on the sides and decked out in confederate colorsw its hilarious.
The flag came about because the confederate states tried to secede from the United States. They lost the war but they still keep the flag? What kind of heritage are they advocating with them? The whole purpose of the flag was to show independence, it's pretty close to treason to fly it if you ask me. Seems like if you have a confederate flag then you believe in the ideals of the confederate states, or if you don't then you are just ignorant, which isn't much better.

Well said.
When they use the flag they are supporting the confederacy. They are supporting rebellion. They are supporting an institution that killed Americans. Its like a f.uck you the US. Its like punching the American flag in the face!
Most Blacks ARE racist. It's a FACT that blacks are the first to say it has something to do with race then any other. Yah, it may have been true 50 years ago, and some people still are, but I can't stand most blacks because they are so racist against others.

1. You don't know very many blacks obviously. 2. You're ignorant and racist. 3. Its not fact its opinion you're stating. 4. I can't stand you then. :P
Or southern pride, and, many blacks are racist...truthfully, I played a game of football against an all black team (JV football) They were as racist as you can get...We went home very offended...
most people who fly the confederate flag don't see it as a symbol of slavery or oppression but of southern pride
Not Southern Pride, Confederate Pride.
Yes southern pride. Get with the program. I personally don't care 'cause I think the regular one looks cooler and it's awesome. And yes blacks are very racist. They are the first to cry out "Racist! Racist" to the first person who cracks an extremely funny joke that's 1% racist and 99% not. Yet most white people will actually laugh when black people make fun of us. Also, they're are multiple Black Only colleges around the US but if we try to open one White Only college we get a 10 million dollar law suit shoved up our a*s. Is it just me or is that not racist?
