This thread contains crucial information to the plot of Harry Potter. If you are currently reading the books, plan to, or just don't want to know what happens I suggest you do not continue in this thread.
Some people requested that my old Harry Potter thread be turned into a general discussion one, but I decided it would be more effective to simply create a new one.
For anyone who doesn't know, Harry Potter is a series of books written by J.K. Rowling about a young wizard named Harry Potter. He was born amidst chaos created by an evil wizard named Lord Voldemort. When Harry was one month old Voldemort went to kill Harry's mother, father, and him. He succeeded in killing Harry's parents, but when he turned to Harry his killing curse reversed and appeared to have killed himself instead. Harry is then sent to live with this "muggle" (non-magical) aunt and uncle who are more against magic and the likes of it than just about every one else. He is raised not even knowing he is a wizard, until he is asked to attend Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry...and that's where I'll stop.
In this thread you can talk about anything Harry Potter related. The books, movies, characters, plot, everything you want. Just make sure you follow the rules, no spam, flaming, all that stuff. Friendly debates are encouraged.
Green, are you sure that the two parts of Deathly Hallows will come out in those years. Because a frame of only one year for two consecutive movies seems like a lot of work.
It's going to suck having to wait a whole year for the second part though! Haha I'll probably read the books again in between so that I remember what happened. Maybe buy the DVD and watch it the night before I see part two.
I read all 7 in fourth grade GREAT books. And my mom saw a preview to the Sixth one and said it inspired her to read the books, sixth is my favorite of all 7. What's everyone's fav?

yea, I mean how else are they going to make more money/milk it for all its worth? a Multi-billion dollar franchise from movies alone. J.K.Rowling was a poor mother, who wrote basically the first draft of the first harry potter book on paper napkins... is now the one of the richest people in the world.
It kind of makes me sick, because I would totally sit in a movie theater for 5 hours just to watch harry potter, heck I'll pay double the money for tickets, it just pisses me off they're trying to split up the movie.

My favorite is definitely the seventh. It sucks that Lupin dies though, he is my favorite character, lol. I like it though because it's full of action, and instead of having whiny Harry (like in OotP) you actually have a fairly mature Harry. I'm reading OotP currently, and he's sort of getting on my nerves, lol. Never knew a fictional character could get on my nerves till I read this one for the first time.

Same, and in fact that would make the experience so much better. You wouldn't have to wait a year in between and half the people would have no idea what's going on. I'm glad that they're making it longer at least though, so I guess we can't complain too much.
It sucks that Lupin dies though, yeah he was one of my faves, but my favorite character is probably surprisingly, Snape. I mean he was like Dumbledore's secret spy, I mean the sixth book was like, GREAT!
Haha ya I used to forget him a lot before. He's an awesome character though. Basically all of their group, Lupin, James Potter (from what we've heard about him), and Sirius all seem pretty cool. Pettigrew is so annoying though, aha he's probably my least favorite character.
All the good characters seem to die though, Remus, Sirius, and James, all die one way or another.
Yes, Pettigrew is rather scared and small. Basically the follower of the group, always the one who is at the lower end of the hierarchy. They trusted him a lot though, letting him become an Animagus along with them.
