I am going to go see it tomorrow afternoon. I have read the book as well, though it is a long time ago now, but hopefully it will be just half as good as the book. There have been people describing it like "An Indiana Jones movie where the entire movie takes place in the university", but I am going to go see for myself.
Was delayed a day. Anyway, I think it is a rather impressive piece of work. Not the most action filled, and slightly loose on the story (at least if I remember it correctly), but certainly impressive. Good acting, Hanks is a bit stiff, though.
And the Danish actors was rather nice to have, though it sounds very wrong with the thick accent. But a nice movie, I will certainly get it on DVD.
I think that the book was Dan Brown's only good work. His other books were rather dull, but I really loved Angels and Demons. I'm not looking forward to the movie (Tom Hanks is an odd actor choice) because the first was so bad...but...I hope that the movie turns out to be good!
I can't see it because it "Offends Our Religion". I think it would be entertaining...
Actually the film is very respectful when it comes to religion. It is not offensive, it is actually, in some way, introducing a new way of seeing religion, especially as the theme is that science and religion is not enemies, but "two sides of the same thing".
And yes, I think Angels and Demons (the book) was rather well written as well.
The Vatican's spokesmen also said that it was alright...the facts were distorted but the action was fine. Sorta like 'endorsed'.
Reminds me: Was it... "Faith is a gift I still haven't received." And still had a lot of fun laughing at the thick accent. Thure, the guy who played the blond policeman was especially fascinating as he was speaking German as well as Italian (though both to an extent). And I just saw him in another movie half a year ago...
