I am so surprised this thread hasn't been made yet... Well I watched Eurovision yesterday and I was amazed that we (the UK) came fifth!
For those of you who do not know what the Eurovision Song Contest is... well...
Eurovision song contest. A European song contest for all the countries in Europe. Usually known as the time of year when all the most crappy songs drag themselves out of the dungeon and gets a lot of sparkles (like certain vampires in sunlight* > > and ruin the ears of those who listens. Also known for the political voting, which means that you cannot really trust it is the best song winning.
Quote courtesy of Cenere, who is rather miffed that Denmark came in 13th place.
SO discuss here. What songs did you like? Who should have won? What entries did you like over the previous years?
My favourites this year were: Country: Greece Artist: Sakis Rouvas Song: This Is Our Night
Not miffed. Terribly, terribly annoyed. And I was actually thinking about it yesterday, when I saw Denmark starting to lose, simply to have a place to rant about it... But yeah, I do not really like this contest, it annoy me how all the music is ruined... Now, some nine years ago, we won! That was good music! And the year after. AND when Finland won. But all the other years: crap.
Ha Ha Ha I am just amazed that those months of pointless reality voting stuff pulled off and we got all the way to fifth. I just watched some of the results while match of the day was on but it was funny as usual. Was it Finland that came last?
When Finland won with Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah? Yeah that was some good music. Now its got a little too cheesy. I think the best part this year was the Cirque Du Soleil and the intervals.
Which reminds me: If you read Hetalia, the Eurovisions can be fantastically funny.
I never liked any of the songs, I found the Danish song rather bad, actually, so it was pretty much just my nationalistic feeling that got me to cheer for that song.
I think Finland came last. And Lithuania were down the bottom too, I remember. Our entry made me laugh though. Just sitting there watching Andrew Lloyd Webber on the piano...
