Defense Secretary Robert Gates has praised Specialist Zachary Boyd who was woken up by enemy fire in his post in Afghanistan. Boyd immediately grabbed his rifle, helmit, and body armor and ran outside to join the fighting, all while wearing pink boxers that said "I love New York". Source; MSNBC. Just thought this was an interesting story, didn't even have time to throw on some pants, just imagine being shot at by a guy in pink boxers.
Okay, this is an interesting story but what do you want to debate about. Is there anything to talk about. I think you are just informing us, no debate. So, in that case, I think this should be LOCKED.
Hahaha pure win. He totally thought about it, I'm telling you it was strategy. It's reverse psychology man. He attracted attention to himself by wearing pink boxers, so when he went out there the enemies were probably saying to each other
"Haha! Look at the American making a fool of himself, don't shoot him, he is entertaining."
Which is what he wanted them to do.
And Glen, just because a topic doesn't have something debatable in it, it doesn't need to be locked.
glencoe is a spammer.. just posting "lock" all over the place..
not degrading the man or his actions, but because he wasnt dressed in his armor, fatigues, etc and was in boxers he gets praise? but the other X amount of troops involved get nothing because they were prepared? it seems kinda messed up..
He's being praised most likely becouse he jumped out of bed and grabbed just what he needed, not wasting time to pull on his uniform and instead ran outside in pink clothing that made him an easy target for enemy gunfire. Pink clothes really stick out in Afghan mountains.

Look at the picture. He's behind sandbags. The Taleban wouldn't have been able to see the pink.
Well, according to the article, at least what I got out of it, he was embarrassed by the photo and was afraid that he would be kicked out of the army for it.
So I doubt it was a PR thing on the part of the soldier.
I think it shows a serious amount of balls on his part, to just jump out there and start defending his post.
All you really need are your rifle, best and helmet. There's no leg protection. Or crotch protection. And it's not like he needed camo...because he was being attacked.
