Surely a range weapon dealing quick death to the enemy. A gun of some sort perhaps, it would need to be pretty powerful perhaps with bullets 6 inches long. Mounted would be a preference and a 120 shot clip box.

I was merely commenting on how one could make the weapon suggested above... I wasn't agreeing with it...
Besides... nukes aren't the best... If I may quote myself in the book I am writing...
Then came the hum and the ground shaking tremors as the particle cannon began its charging sequence. The tip of its barrel protruding from the ground began to glow with the blue light of its ball of fusing plasma. And then it fired. The massive gun recoiled as the shockwave shot out around it and the blinding blue beam shot forth. Flying through the air at nearly the speed of light, it did not take long before it met its target. The plasma pulses had already made contact but had not penetrated the shield. The particle cannon on the other hand, ignored the shield and went straight for the bridge. It collided with the belly of the ship but it did not stop, as it continued to fire, the hole went deeper and deeper until with what would have been a deafening boom had it not been in space, it shot out the other side, leaving the ship with a three hundred meter wide hole straight through it.

That and the fact that the rounds travel at 99% of the speed of light so there is no reaction time as there would be with nukes...
Except that by the theory of relativity, that would be impossible... It would require infinite force to fire something at the speed of light... The reason is that light must always go the speed of light faster than everything else. When you start going fast, your mass starts disrupting the fabric of space-time and you begin to start pushing it along with you so that the light around you is still going c mph/kph faster than you...
And what is Neutronium? There is no such thing... Now you could be talking about Neutron Star material which is hyper massive. (A tablespoon of it would be equivalent to an oil tanker... the ship kind.) The problem there is that the recoil would be so large that unless you had a ship with a great enough mass to equal that, it wouldn't work... (EX: you fire it from a gun mounted on a battleship... Since the ship is twice the mass, it goes half the speed of the projectile. But that is still bad. 0.5c is very fast indeed and would be enough to throw the ship out of the atmosphere and possibly out of the solar system... If you fired the round from something like the death star or some super massive capital ship, it might work since the mass of the firer would be large enough to dampen it... Now of course if you had something to manipulate gravity with (which if you would have because of getting the stuff in the first place requires it), you could use a negative gravity field to fire it without recoil and it could potentially go 99.999% of the speed of light.
Oh and there wold be no point to having a machine gun... A single round with that much momentum would be a planet-killer... if you think asteroid/comets are bad, they might go 1-5% of c. This has about half their mass and twenty times the speed... That is ten times the momentum of a comet which by itself could wipe a planet clean and cause the crust to fall to the core... Now take that devastation times ten and you have a single shot from this gun...
The Perfect weapon is actually the mind. The power to control anything with the mind and what would be it's perfect power it's the power to control minds. More powerful than anything even if your using a laser phaser but if you can't use it it is actually useless.
