Prop 8, the highly controversial California proposition which will ban same-sex marriage, was passed by voters months ago. Today, lawsuits have failed to overturn it as the California Supreme Court has upheld the proposition.

I personally love the fact that it passed. If you have read that prop, you also know that it's not just banning gay marriages, but saving religious freedom. For that, I'm glad it passed.

Seconded. I thought California was a relatively liberal sate. I'm surprised such reactionary legislation was supported by the populus. Am I wrong though? Is California not particularly liberal?

I'm glad they upheld it. Why are they trying to overturn something put into place by the population? Because they think they're discriminating when it's not the discrimination thingy. It doesn't say anywhere sexual orientation. It says color, race, creed, religion, ect.

That's such a disgusting thing to say. It's not discrimination because the US legal documents don't call it discrimination? Denying marriage to homosexuals is advocating for discrimination and unequal rights, and it's morally wrong by anyone who has morality.

No it's not. I never said that they should or shouldn't be able to marry, even though yes it is my personal beliefs, I'm following the written word and the people of California, although the constitution is a really bad place to put something like that.
