Yesterday, I heard that in four (or five) states in the US, they are now reccomending for all drivers to not smile during there license photo.

Reason: Apparently there is a computer system that matches ideas and if people smile or make facial expressions it confuses the system.
Also, it will stop people from getting fake licenses.

My opinion: I think that if it will cut down on fake licenses and help the matching process then there is really no reason go against it. Although it is quite fun to make funny faces. XD

Well, they already do this with mug shots, so they should definitely do the same with licenses.
I thought they already did this... Could I have smiled in my renewed license picture? CRAP.

No no no. You gotta look drunk in your license photo so if you get pulled over for DUI they aren't suspicious.

Here in Texas they use a different form of the system that focuses on the eyes. If everybody used that system we would be able to smile in our licenses.

That is the stupidest think to do.

Will you get in trouble if you do smile?

If it helps the system, ehh why not. I'm not very photogenic anyways... too pessimistic to smile. When I get my license in a couple days, I am honestly considering glaring at the camera because if I were to be pulled over, I'm not gonna' be happy so may as well make myself more like the photo. (That and it would be kinda funny...)

I'm pretty sure I am following the consensus when I say that it's just a picture. You have to weigh the importance of helping the government, or a nice picture. All I have to say there.

Of course if you make a rediculusly stupid face, it would kind of suck to have to make that face when you get to an airport or somthing.

That sounds as ridiculous as this new supposed law I just heard about in FL.

Why can't you have emotion in a picture that you will be carrying for at least 10 years?

I'm smiling on my license,

But as a girl, I think I can probably get away with that. I think this law must apply to men who don't like to get their photos taken. They're just trying to make it easier on everyone.

Laws applying to men only under any means would be sexist. All people are equal, so there you go.

Jrmagic, like I said, emotion in a picture is far less important than the government's needs, or wants. (However you want to call it)
