There is truth in the title.

I'm getting pretty fed up, personally, with the threads that are troll-bait. I don't know if the person who made the thread is intentionally posting something that is way too idiotic, or he just doesn't know.

For example:

http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3575165/what-are-posts
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3466570/what-are-cool-games-to-play
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3558972/post-for-points
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3563990/armatar
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3571339/how-can-you-tell-how-many-ap-points-you-have
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3573239/how-can-you-make-a-game
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3563188/a-chatting-bit

I hate to point fingers, but this is actually mandatory to acknowledge. I also think that the frank discussions in World Events needs a little more intelligence...

http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3572854/president-obama-of-the-united-states
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3547134/new-super-power
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3573219/must-you-be-aethiest-to-enjoy-debate-on-armorgames
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3550985/school-6-days-a-week
http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3543896/did-aliens-create-and-or-help-ancient-civilization

Threads discussing extra-terrestrials, communism, homosexuality, and a lot of other generic topics isn't needed and could be rid of.

Once again, I respect almost everyone on this forum and I'm sorry if I linked to your thread, but honestly, we need more common sense.

Because you pointed out a member that was worse than yours and you completely missed the point
of this thread. It's not nice to slander someone else. I have no problem against short posts,
it's just that you have to CONTRIBUTE to the topic and not just throw in a user and leave.

Spam does not all include short posts, though the majority of them are. Off topic posts, flame
/troll posts, and completely effortless posts are considered spam. That's what we were discussing,
because many people do this, by posting duplicate threads,
and effortless
topics. There you go.

SIX...SIX words.

Six words on AG falls neatly into the Spam category. So, no...

That's what we were discussing,

Especially the 'Favourite' threads...As you mentioned Shin...the 'Helpers' example was a classic case of help gone wrong...Irksome...And you can't help but cry out in pain whenever someone does that...

Another example, to enlighten you, and to give you guys a good laugh.

person 1:'Post here for free points!'

Person 2: 'Lol!'

Person 3: 'This is a spam thread!'

Person 4: 'Yeah, it'll get locked...'

Person 5: 'Lock this thread, it creates SPAM!'

Person 6: 'Lol, all your posts are SPAM!'

Person 7: 'Just realised that...well I won't post anymore.'

Person 8: 'Lulz...another spam!'

Person 9: 'What do I do here!'

Person 10: 'Noob!' *Swears!*

-Nich's and ShintetsuWA's reenactment of a spam thread-

That... is the most sensible thing that I have seen since being here. I assume most members repeat what has already been said probably cause they want to take credit for answering the question.

Even though you bring up an excellent point, that still isn't the core of the spam that flows in Armor Games. What I'm trying to point out to people is that ridiculous conversations, and obvious threads is very unfair. Asking what a merit is, when you could just look around for a day or two and know, causes people to get upset, and moderators to groan.

We as members TRY and TRY to get those points across to people, and mods TRY and TRY to direct
new members to these things by providing stickied threads that will most definitely answer
their questions. However, most do not do such a thing like read or look. They need to know
that they aren't the only newbs that have ever surfaced on AG and that what they think is the
first question is really the 521st that has been answered time and time again. Those that
have been in forums before are lucky; they know that stickies are important things, and they
will (sometimes) look at them and figure out their questions. Those that haven't...well, that's
another story. You can tell they haven't been in a forum before, if they ask the most basic
and straightforward questions around.

What CAN we do? Make the sticky thread words bigger and bolder? Make it sparkle and have
arrows pointing at it saying "HEY THIS IS IMPORTANT!"? I'm to the point where I think we
actually need this.

Answering questions and reminding users that this was a duplicate thread or that the thread
has been answered before occasionally is fine and dandy, but 10 times in one sitting per
day is ridiculous. I didn't even know that we get these many average members in a day!

Well, you do know that AG isn't the most mature forum on the interwebs right? I mean, most of the members are pre-teen and younger in age, mainly because this is a gaming site/forum. They come here for help to understand the internet lingo as most of them are new. /completely serious

bwahaha, it's basic debate. These are topics that are being argued by various people every day, and people tend to bring every point to the argument, whether it's childish, or unintelligent. It's basic argument structure, and you will have to ignore it.

People will keep bringing them up until they get the answers they need, and in the search of those answers, they usually find even more questions, so this also will probably not stop any time soon.

When we refer newcomers to a sticky thread or we recite the rules, chances are that that particular member won't spam again. This isn't the case for the NEXT member, and the next.

But yeah. When a member signs up, I wish he was redirected to the forum rules and given a warning, if you break one of the following rules just because you didn't read it, you might be banned, if the offense was major. (Like excessive spamming, torrents, or pornography.)

Dude, I've implied numerous times that AG isn't so organized and intelligent. Hey, I'm 12 and I can acknowledge something like this.

People will keep bringing them up until they get the answers they need, and in the search of those answers, they usually find even more questions, so this also will probably not stop any time soon.

No. I just think people want to talk, and when they rack their brains for a topic, they find the most ridiculous topic they can comprehend.

Asking what a merit is,

Technically no. If it's in the NewComer's, which it should be, it should be fine. You can't expect Newcomers to straightaway know how the site is ran and make a beeline for the stickies eh? And it's easier to solicidate an answer from someone experienced who can provide adequate responses, other than just a stony sticky....

Less threatening to Newcomers. The stickies I feel...just supplement their knowledge....

The Tavern serves taht purpose. Topics that are ridiculous...but encourage long discussions are better in some cases then mundane sensible topics like 'Favourite XXX'. If rules are overly-enforced, then we would only succeed in driving new members away.

Make an exception? Pwease?

The world events forum typically is rather intelligent- and much intelligence can be found deep beneath the joking and memes in the art forum. Of course, the forums here aren't expected to be filled to the brim with a bunch of cognoscenti and intelligentsia who provoke intelligent discussion- be reminded that there are people of all intellects, ages, etc. that come here~

However, any guy that hasn't been in the forums can tell you when it's in bold and separated from
the rest of the threads and says "merit questions answered", I can tell you that when I have
a question about it, I could just go right in.

The member who did make that thread was experienced. The main topics of merits are in
bold so the member can easily just scroll away something that they might already know so they
don't miss something important. As we have all said, they just need to look around (like the
top of the forum page) to find what they are looking for.

Think of this way. When you hear a very interesting word, but you don't know what it means, typically, you look it up in the dictionary. If someone joined, and saw, like 3 threads that say, "Merit questions answered!" "What are merits?" etc. they should be smart and READ them. I'm not blaming Armor Games for not aiding these oblivious people, I'm blaming the people.

Since when? 9 year olds probably come here.

Y'know, I wish people could get infractions on this site. At least then we could do something, even though it's a very small contribution, to the site.

However, any guy that hasn't been in the forums can tell you when it's in bold and separated from

If they can find the New Topic button, they should be able to find the stickied thread.

The problem is...the Newcomers do not know where to look initially, so they just ask anyone, or post the threads. When I first came...well I didn't make any duplicae threads...but I pestered lots of people. I mean...would you know where to go, where to look when you first arrived at an airport in a distant country? But are there people milling around to ask for directions? Most definitely.

Well, obviously, if you arrived in a distant country, you would have a guide named Sticky that
helped you through everything you needed to know. After all, you wouldn't go to a place
deemed impossible to understand, correct? Yes, we get those too, those that can't understand
English.

How about this: if they really don't know anything how in the world would they know how to make
a new thread if they don't know a darn thing about this site? Is it because it's bigger? Does
it have a different color than the rest of the page? Even if they saw this first, they just
have to look a couple of inches downward to see **PLEASE READ** stickies just begging to
be read by people to help them. But no. They don't.

You see, very rarely do I see newcomers asking for help on AP. THOSE are the real newcomers.
Sure, they may ask for info on how the ranks are set up, but we can't blame them on that,
after all, the help button is too tiny and to the far right of the page. The rest, how should
they know what a merit is if they don't know what AP is when they themselves are newcomers too?

Exactly. See, why can't we just redirect them to a page that tells them the basics of AG
life, so that instead of asking "what is AP?" they ask "are there other ways of getting AP?",
a step up from simple questions that can be answered from a click in the right direction, or in
my suggestion, on the page as soon as you register. If they skip it? That's their fault; that's
when we know that they are just spamming for AP. It will make all of our time here easier if
this was done, and it can give mods to focus on other things.
